All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Lead to Jack Squat.
Most fanbases don't get to celebrate playoff victories every year for several years in a row.

I'm willing to give KOC another year and if we don't win a playoff game, I'd like to put Flores as head coach and defensive playcaller and get a new offensive playcaller.

22 NFL Franchises have celebrated Playoff Victories more recently than the Vikings.

12 of the other 15 NFC Teams have reached the Super Bowl since the Wilf's bought the franchise.

No clue how to build a winner.

Vikings won a playoff game in 2020 (the 2019 season). Sure, we're due for another and it needs to be 2026 season.

If you're trying to pretend that most franchises win playoff games every 2-3 years, that's just a lie.

Agree that it has been pretty wild how much the NFC has cycled through teams for its Super Bowl representative.

Vikings would've won the SB the 2009 season, if not for one incredibly stupid throw.

Lions haven't either. They have good ownership too.

I'm not pretending anything.

22 franchises have won a playoff game more recently than the Vikings. Fact.

That's on Ownership. Rudderless.

Where you're being dishonest is pretending that it's been like since 1978 that we haven't won one. We just did in 2020.

We'll be just fine if we win another one in 2026.

Puzzling why you are projecting anything more into it than that fact.

Also no idea what 1978 has to do with anything.

I don't hold the Wilf's accountable for any Vikings failures prior to 2005 when they bought franchise.

Just 3 Playoff wins in that time. Incredibly weak.

I was looking forward to getting PA’a opinion on this but now I am certain it’ll be false info similar to the rest of the tc media. Just voices being told what to say. Sad.

Ben Goessling was on with Dan on Fri and specifically addressed why he and actual legitimate reporters like Seifert, Shefter, etc. aren't reporting things like above.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure ........ Dan Rotman? Who TF is that? .... is a stand up guy.
Took me a few minutes to figure outs his creds, which just may be slightly higher than yours🤦‍♂️.

Click on his Tweet to get his twitter bio and then compare that to AI

Who Daniel Rotman Is

  • NFL Draft & Scouting Analyst — Daniel Rotman is best known as the founder of ScoutdNFL, a platform focused on NFL draft analysis, prospect evaluation, and scouting content.
  • Social Media Presence — He has a notable following on X/Twitter (@daniel_rotman15), where he shares draft rankings, evaluations, and NFL draft discussions.
  • Former Pro Football Focus Contributor — Rotman has former involvement with Pro Football Focus (PFF), where he contributed analytics-driven scouting insights.

Now provide yours😃.

That is gossip. That is not news.

Legitimate, credible reports cannot and should report gossip. Carry on

Now Ben Leber in saying in his hausfrau voice that he knew Kwesi was gonna get fired. What in the ham fat is going on?

A new day and time to call out yet another Vikings failure as I suspect many are tired of my lack of Playoff Victories diatribe under the Wilf regime.

It's been 16 seasons since the Purple have made it to the Playoffs in consecutive years ('08 & '09). That puts them in select company amongst their other 15 NFC brethren. The only teams within their Conference to have as long or longer of a streak are:

Chicago
Washington
New York

Da Bears can get off the list in 2026. The other 3 will have to wait until 2027 at the earliest.

What was your first clue 🕵️🥴

The Pohlads should read this thread for an ego boost. As hated as they are, I doubt any Twins fan hates them as much as @Ope3 hates the Wilfs.

My impression of the Wilfs is they stay in their New Jersey base for 345 days a year, fly in for game days and do not have a freaking clue as to what goes on in Eagan on a routine basis. None.

Just a guess, their underlings just tell them what the want to hear that everything is hunky dory. Lip service. Oblivious to what is really going on in house.

Hire KAM, outside the box and from a pretty suspect organization (the woeful Browns) even if he had only been there a year.

Let him hang around for 3 seasons extend him prior to year 4, 2025 season ends and it takes more than 3 weeks before they "survey the landscape" and decide that's where the problem lies.

What a joke.

What a joke.

The bigger joke would have been hanging on to him. I give them credit for realizing the mistake and moving on sooner than later. Up to now, they have not proven to be owners that make quick rash decisions.

I'm looking forward, not backward. I'm excited about the search for a new GM as, from the sounds of it, this will be a very sought after job. Good owners, good facilities, good roster, and good Coaching staff. Talented people are going to want the Vikings GM job

It would have been a bigger joke, but I am not sure better.

A new GM from the outside is not going to beholden to the current coaching staff or has the potential to be a handpicked lackey by KOC. In that situation they could easily get blown out if 2026 falls below expectations.

Also, I am convinced the failures in the Draft came with considerable input from staff already on hand. Expecting a dramatic change seems a leap of faith.

Speaking of faith, I have none that the Wilfs can identify the proper resource but even a bling squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Ray of hope.

Maybe let Brezinsky (sp?) make the hire of the GM (for football related things) and promote B to the GM's boss.
Would that make any sense. Keep the Wilf's away from football hiring decisions.

George Paton was mentioned in The Athletic, as someone who will get a look.

His role with the Broncos changed since Peyton arrived and he has lots of good relationships in Eagan after spending 14 years with the Vikes and rising the ranks of Assistant GM, before he left for the Broncos’ GM in 2021.

There was a time when I would have thought Paton would be a good get. I'd have to think about it. Man, I want to say his brief time between Denver hiring him and Payton coming on board had some real bad decisions in there but I may be misremembering (wasn't he responsible for the Russell Wilson mess?)

Sounds well thought of though, and he's on an expiring contract in Denver it sounds like.

EDIT: A quick review of his drafts since getting to Denver look pretty solid, I have to say

The Russell Wilson thing was bad. Most of the rest has been good. I'm not sure how much say Paton has with Sean Peyton around, so he might be willing to make the move.

His contract expires next year and no extension has been discussed/offered per Mike Sando.

He’s well liked in Eagan and throughout the League and admired for his talent evaluation, Surtain being the gem.

The article said Peyton calls the shots and it wouldn’t be surprising if he was interested. It wouldn’t surprise me if Peyton wants his guy in as well - so they may not put up much of a fight to keep him.

If the Vikings do hire him, Sean Peyton will say he never wanted him back anyway and he baited the Vikings into it.

You guys might be correct. The absentee owner thing only works if you have on site manager with some skills.

I came across this article yesterday and found it quite enjoyable and coalesced many of my thoughts about NFL owners. The Wilfs' aren't specifically mentioned (Woody Johnson, Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder, David Tepper get most of the print) and while Vikings' ownership has been stable since their arrival and they have been savvier PR-wise than the likes of Tepper and Johnson, a lot of your thoughts do align with the current ownership class--owning a NFL team is a cash cow and on field success is a secondary consideration.
