All Things 2025 Playoffs and Bowl Thread

Bye week teams about to fall to 0-6. I bet there is a strong push to adjust the timeline for next year to avoid these month long breaks between games for some teams.

If the big name bowls want to stay involved make them give up their New Year's eve or New Year's day spot and if they don't want to be involved then let them keep their spot and just not get playoff teams.

Have seen others mention moving first two rounds to high seeds campus and bump up the timeframe in order to play them closer to the end of the regular season to avoid the long layoffs between games.

I cannot imagine the pain of spending a gazillion dollars on a squad to have the offense poop their pants in the playoffs. The defense has played really well.
Yep, it makes absolutely no sense. Your money just vaporizes into thin air, and you're left with ... nothing.

You're not an owner of the team. You don't get that profit of owning a profitable business, not to mention the ROI when you go to sell your ownership (stake) later on.

It's a terrible business model and it won't be sustainable.

I do wonder how long the "old men who can't take it with them" model will work....

It’s true no one has ever wasted money on something stupid for no reason when they literally could choose to wipe their ass with $100s and it wouldn’t make a difference in their multigenerational wealth

Not how these guys are wired.

Just because they can afford to lose it, doesn't mean they'll just shrug their should and keep doing that for 20 years in a row.

I reject that Phil Knight/Nike with Oregon is a valid example of this. It's the counter-example, if we're being honest. They use the University of Oregon varsity athletics department as their front door marketing. Huge ROI

This Texas Tech oilman guy, on the other hand, just set X millions of dollars on fire. Got nothing out of it ... well I guess a Big 12 championship trophy. That is something I gues

For the (self-reported) purported wealth of Cody it’s as painful as a a Hyundai car payment. The only pain incurred is losing this game.

These games are turning out just like everyone predicted so far 🦃

Well the TT billionaire is going to have up his nil for football to about 50 mil. Good D, but the O sucks

I will say I’m surprised by the poor attendance at this game. Not seeing a lot of green in the tv shots.

I guess Tech is the team that the Domers should be pissed about getting into the tournament over them. Their offense has been total ass.

Their ranking had to have been based off the eye test, their schedule was a domination of the big 12…forget about that loss to 8-5 AZ State.

Domers definitely have an argument, IMO.

Noon in Miami after New Year’s Eve is a tough call. Looked like a good crowd once game was going. Lots of trolls like to post social media pics about 10-20 minutes before kickoff.

As a fan I can't imagine going to the quarters, the semis, and the finals. The time off as well as travel and expenses would not be feasible for most people.

For gainfully employed workers with limited PTO, absolutely. As a retiree it would be pretty awesome to be a roadie but I’m not sure of the size of that population for either team.

ND could not beat BYU twice to make it to the playoff. What is their bitch? A win over Pitt and a couple of close loses are a good enough portfolio to be in over tech?

That of course is the other thing with college as opposed to the NFL, you have a lot of podunk little college towns as opposed to major metro areas (Green Bay and Buffalo notwithstanding)

Ttu won the b12. In what world are they not getting in as one of the highest rated conf champs? Or have people forgotten selection criteria?
