All Things 2025 Playoffs and Bowl Thread

Well, hopping into the aforementioned time machine to when there were only conference champions without conference title games...with all eligible teams getting a single post-season opportunity to play...it was often clear by half-time that one team did better with the layoff period between their last game and the bowl game than the other team.

It was just called playing flat and boy it could suck.

It will be interesting to see tomorrow where all the playoff teams stand on the bye question.

Think they just need to move up the quarters at minimum and play the games week after week. No reason to have 2 week gaps over and over
The major New Year’s Day bowl games are dictating timing to align with their traditional slots, and it’s impacting everything else upstream. I can’t believe the powers that be with bowl games that have been operating for more than 100 years in some cases will be willing to change that.

Not sure about tOSU. They had a favorable schedule and then OL fell apart.
They had to play Texas in non-conf and they were #1 wire to wire until barely losing to #2 IU in the championship.

I say they beat Oregon, and I say Miami beats all three.

I think they were probably good, but yeah losing multiple ol starters kills any team, especially when you’re getting the best pass rush tandem in the country that week

The conferences and Notre Dame own the CFP 11 ways. They don't have to include the Bowl Games, if they don't want to.

But the conferences have such strong historical ties to those bowls, that they have demanded them be included so far.

At the end of the day, whatever makes the most sense in terms of maximizing total TV ratings is what will win out.

Don't see why the major bowls wouldn't end up being defacto consolation matchups between major confs.

At some point money wins out and the money is made because of the game, not the name

If OSU had a QB they’d win. Not a fan of Sayin.

There’s something about the pace/rythm he plays at that bothers me. I don’t like how slowly he gets the ball out. Also, his lack of mobility and cement feet makes Tanner Morgan look like Louisville Lamar Jackson
And then they called him to make a snap throw to the WR and it cost them 6…

Brutal.

Just almost incomprehensible. Oregon should lose on Lanning's stupidity.

Just a horrible pass.

Oregon clearly better in all phases today, except for Lt Dan trying to be a hero

I cannot imagine the pain of spending a gazillion dollars on a squad to have the offense poop their pants in the playoffs. The defense has played really well.

I guess Tech is the team that the Domers should be pissed about getting into the tournament over them. Their offense has been total ass.
