All Things 2025 NCAA Tournament Games Thread

Good thing we avoided Will Wade.

Almost got doubled up vs Purdue, 38-20 at half.
He just picked up a T as well. Charge against McNeese followed by Kaufmen Renn using the forearm to push off then drawing a foul call.

refs real inconsistent in when they're calling the physicality today, but McNeese is vastly outmatched out there.

9-0 run (FT pending) after the double tech and resultant FTs for McNeese.

Good call. We should totally judge coaches based on 1/2 of one game.
Will Wade really out coached Clemson.
Hard to do that twice in a row

Also really hard to do that on Saturday/Sunday with one day of prep.

First time seeing them and to say I’m unimpressed would be an understatement. It’s not that they’re getting drubbed (although that undoubtedly colors things), it’s that they play at a shockingly low basketball IQ. Not well coached in this game.

St John's looks terrible. Can't make a shot. Can't make free throws.

How much NIL money did Pharrell Payne supposedly get? Having a heck of a tournament so far.
One could make the argument that last season was Ben Johnsons poorest coaching. How the hell do you have Payne, Garcia, Christie, Hawkins, and some decent depth pieces and not sniff the tournament?

Looks like the portal benefited Texas A&M with Pharell Payne, their leading scorer against Michigan. Every other drive down the floor, the announcers mention Payne. He is running the floor like a madman unlike how he played here. Payne obviously benefited from the move.

I agree to your "Hell no" response to golf's recommendation of "Play the games at the highest seed."

How about play games at the lowest seed with 14 seed or lower! They're going to need all the help they can get with NIL & the portal gutting their rosters of their best players. Why not help them earn at least a little money to compete? Can you imagine the chaos, arguing and conspiracy theories from teams trying to actually get the 4th seed instead of 3rd seed so they don't have to play at some small school's home arena? How cool would it be when all the TV people flood into some small school campus sort of like when College Game Day visits a rare place during football season? If a low seed actually won, how crazy would their home arena and town get?

I'm predicting March Madness turns into March Fairly Predictable moving forward so we'll need something to stir the pot!!!

How about this.

Small and mid majors go into top half of bracket. Power conf schools go into bottom half.

Play until there are 8 schools left - 4 from each half of the bracket. Then for the final eight pair a small/mid school against a big school and finish the tourney from there.

My preference would be to play the games on campus of the higher seed. The excitement in those arenas would be next level. Imagine a tourney game at the Barn. What would tickets for that sell for on the secondary markets? A whole lot.
Once get to the final 8 though, play the games at a neutral site.

This format would level the playing field regarding the haves and have nots as well. Mid and small schools would love it.
