All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

For sure. We all hope JJ flourishes.

But what if he misses the year due to injury again or needs more seasoning. Both of which are possible.
You would be on board with Rodgers then, right?
No No. Yes JJ misses a season with a injury last year. But he does not need more seasoning. He is god damn ready to take over the number 1 spot. If he hasn't gotten injure last year. I can bet you he would have most likely been a week 1 starter.

Agree.
However if JJ for whatever reason can't go this season, Rodgers gives the Vikes best chance to win. Smart of Kwesi and KOC to make inquiries in that direction.

No he does not. Rodgers does not give the Vikings the best chance to win this season. he is a locker room cancer. Come on dude. Kwesi and KOC need to get Rodgers crap out of here and move on from Rodgers.

So u think flacco or tannehill would give the Vikes a better chance than Rodgers?

Yes as a backup. we are not signing Rodgers to start ok. we signing someone to backup JJ who going to be the starter. Will you get that in your head please.

No one disagrees with that. We all want JJ and are excited for his future.

However, this is football. If JJ for whatever reason is unable to begin or complete the season, then of course Rodgers gives us the best chance to win. Do u agree with that?
This is what Kwesi and KOC considered. They are covering all the bases.

No for the last time Rodgers does not gives us the best chance to win. Can you get that in your head please.

So you believe we would have a better to chance to win with Flacco or Tannehill than Rodgers?

The Jets won more games without Rodgers in 2023 than they did with him in 2024.

So you believe we would have a better chance to win with Flacco or Tannehill than Rodgers?

No. We have a better shot with JJ McCarthy. Will you learn that for one please. Stop just stop with this crap with Rodgers and stuffs. JJ will be the starter in week 1. End of the story now move on please.

Ok. Will let it go. 🙂

I just don't understand the visceral hate of Rodgers by so many.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have no doubt that you would rather not win a super bowl at all than to win one with Rodgers. I don't get it.

What don't you understand about Rodgers' never signing to be JJ's back- up. Even if Vikings wanted him to back-up JJ, Rodgers would never sign a contract for that.

Kwesi and KOC were just doing due diligence to protect us in case for some reason JJ is not able to begin or complete the season.
I submit this was smart as Rodgers would by far give us the best chance of winning among still available QBs.

I've been saying all along that I think the flirtation with Rodgers is for a backup role. I could be wrong, who knows. But that's what I think. And for that role, why not? The Vikings could do a lot worse. Flacco or Tannehill would be great too. But you can't put the entire season this fall on some shit backup like Winston or Gardner Minshew (random names, yes I know they've signed elsewhere).

This staff and Front Office have not given me any reason to doubt what they have in mind. I'm sure they know exactly what they are going to do and all will be revealed not long after the draft.

I honestly don't know why you think you know this to be 100% unequivocally true. It could be, but none of us have any idea. I know plenty of people hate Rodgers, and for a variety of reasons (football and non-football) but nobody knows what he's thinking.

Your last paragraph 👍. However, this goes beyond football for many.

Yes.

Also the potential backup QB options go well beyond those 3. Any number could be available for modest future draft picks between now and the end of August.

The last time Rodgers played in the Super Bowl, JJ McCarthy was 8 years old.

Got it.

The Vikings are the only team that should be worried that their presumptive starting QB may be injured, because…reasons?

There is a reason that Kaaron Rogers is not in demand.

Kfan sports personality John Bonnes said he would rather go his whole life without seeing the Vikes win a super bowl, rather than see the Vikes win one with Rodgers.

Do you concur with Bonnes?

You're right, I don't know but I would bet a very large sum of money that it is true. I don't think Rodgers is the type of guy to finish his hall of fame career agreeing to hold a clipboard.

Coller had a doctor on his pod who said that an ACL is more serious than JJ' s injury, but JJ's injury is more tricky than an ACL. Not exactly sure what that means, other than there is a possibility that JJ's injury lingers.

Mindblowing that diehard Vikings fans would cheer for the Vikes to lose if Rodgers was QB. Reasons for this have to go beyond football.

Also baffling to me that u think flacco or tannehill would be better than Rodgers. KOC and Kwesi certainly don't think that.
Media certainly doesn't think that.
So will agree to disagree on that one

It's baffling to me that you think it's limited to those 3 options.

No, not all the media thinks Rodgers is the best option. It highly debatable. 3 years removed from having a decent season.

Until KOC/Kwesi actually aquire an additional QB via trade, free agent or waiver pickup we don't know what they are thinking. It really doesn't matter until they do.

Think Ogee nailed it a few posts above. Vikings are or were interested in Rodgers, but strictly as a backup. And agree that anyone (here or in media) loudly exclaiming that he would never do that, has no idea if that's true.

My sales pitch for him to come here as the backup:
- McCarthy had an injury that cost him the entire season, so it is probable that he is at higher risk to be not fully recovered by this fall or that he could tweak injury that during the season
- if we get to say Week 11 and we're right in the hunt for a #1 seed and McCarthy goes out with a tweak that he needs 3-4 weeks to fully recover from ..... Rodgers can come in and be the hero of the season!
- one way or another, it's not that unlikely that we would need him at some point. He would be the savior of the season
- do the Eagles win Super Bowl 52 without Nick Foles? No

So, obviously it's up to him. But it's a scenario like that, with a higher chance at a ring, or being the starter for the Steelers with a lower ring chance but slightly more money (which he doesn't need).

He's got one maybe two seasons left.

Kwesi just had public comments on Wed about the situation, so that's not fully true.
