All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

Honestly, it's probably a good thing that McCarthy is going to sit while the O-Line is in the toilet and all banged up.

Not ideal for the long term, but probably improves our odds much better here in week 3.
So after what I saw from the gophers and vikings this weekend

There is no gopher game this weekend and friggin Carson wentz is starting.

Bring on the Timberwolves!

I am also thinking this is a rare Saturday/Sunday where I may get outside and not think much about football.

I said it last year and I’ll say it again, KOC is not a good play caller and needs to give up that responsibility.
The entire "Shanahan" coaching tree (Kyle, McVey, LaFluer, KOC) calls their own plays. Except Mike Shanahan didn't. He let Kubiak call the plays most of the years in Denver and Kyle in Washington.

No weekend viewing decision to be made for me. I'll be on a plane bound for Dublin! SKOL!! Maybe the redhead Carson Wentz will feel right at home and have one of the best games of his career there.

I actually noticed this during the game last night, just an inordinate amount of instances of 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 2. This is a terrible stat for the Vikings, but it's early in the season

Santy chance the ankle impacted his play last night???
well it happened late in the 3rd and his drives after were
Drive 1: sack fumble
Drive 2: missed bomb to Nailor (that should've been a TD)
Drive 3: inc pass, pass for 12, pass for 22, desperation pick where i think he thought he had a free play

so seems overall pretty similar

Thanks, I was snoozing by then!!

A list of Vikings starters out (or likely out) for Week 3:

McCarthy
Jones, Sr.
Addison
Darrisaw
Kelly
Cashman
Van Ginkle
Okudah
Harrison

That's 42% of our starters on offense and defense.

Skule is out with apparently with a concussion (his backup replaced him in the game), per the video I posted this morning, when KOC discussed the injuries from the game.

No way Darisaw doesn’t play Sunday😀
Kelly
Cashman
Van Ginkle
Okudah
Harrison
He’ll also play Sunday; he knows we can’t go 1-2😊

Walk off the ledge now and go to your happy place

I really had no expectations going into the season with a rookie QB that I thought was a 2nd Round Pick coming out of the Draft and coming back from a serious injury.

Fantasy Football has been my saving grace as a Vikings fan for far too many seasons over the years.

Just trying to add a little light to a suxy Monday.

What have been your previous expectations?

I don’t expect big wins or championship seasons for any sports - experiencing two Twins WS wins surpassed anything I ever imagined. The Vikes had four chances and nothing - it may not be in the cards in our lifetime 🤷‍♂️

I almost always have a certain level of "hope" for the Vikings except during the Ponder years. I've just found that playing Fantasy Football is a far more reliable source of satisfaction.

I'm convinced that folks that cheer for struggling teams gamble a lot more to keep their interest in the NFL high. 😉

PA loved Ponder.

Even Ponder took the Vikings to the Playoffs, once.

You meant Adrian Peterson, right?

Small detail, about AP setting the NFL rushing record.

My main point was while even though Ponder's tenure in Minnesota was lousy, they still overcame that once in n his brief career. There was at least some "hope"', albeit minimal.

Ponder was only the #1 starter (start to finish) in that 2012 season. They made it as a Wild Card.

They cut bait appropriately after 2013 by drafting Bridgewater.
