All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Castro and Brock Stewart would net something decent. Probably Coulumbe too. France and Paddock probably just a lottery ticket. Bader would also, but I'd try to sign him first.

I suppose if you have determined it is a throwaway year, it makes sense to move them all. Even if you only hit on a couple that can help you down the road, it would be worth it. I don't have much faith in this team turning it around this year, but I'd still wait until closer to the deadline (as they will).

Maybe but this team doesn't have that feel IMO. The problem is they're chasing about 5 teams for the 3rd WC. At least one of them is going to go 35-25 or something down the stretch which means they might have to go 40-20 or so to make the play-offs. I don't really see it. If they're under .500 at the trade deadline, I'd sell. At or above, go for it.

Most of the teams that made a run didn't have 'that feel' at this point, or even a month from now. Two years ago Arizona was under .500 in August and got swept by the Twins that month. They looked awful, yet made the World Series. 4 years ago Atlanta was under .500 in August and won the World Series. Detroit was 6 games under .500 at this point last season and stayed under .500 until Aug 25th then made the WC and won that series. It's a long season. They are 4 games back from the WC and have 71 to play.

If you trade Ryan or Lopez, who's replacing them next season? Overall the Twins have a mostly young core just entering their prime. Their older players are still in their prime. Like I said, I don't see any significant moves as long as this team is for sale and that would be the right move right now. This is not a blow it up situation.

That better not be a broken hand. Hate it for Buxton coming back from where he was to being an all star and being in the HR contest. Guys been so awesome to watch.

Absolute beautiful night for a ball game. Glad I and my family got to be a part of it. Do it again tomorrow

I made my 2025 debut at the park as well. Beautiful night.

1st inning.

Seemed surreal to stay until the final out and exit MPLS while it was still light out.

yeah i'm not advocating they trade one of their SPs (you need those guys if you're going to have any chance in a postseason series).

On the pitching staff, they've also been horrible at times. I'd hang onto the SPs personally, but can understand them moving one if you get a big deal thrown at you given Ryan and Ober are both in their last years of their deals (IIRC). In the pen, I'd imagine they'll get some looks for Duran as well.

Bux I only bring up because he's finally healthy, hits, defends, and can steal bases, all of which are super valuable in the postseason. He's someone I could see them selling high on given he's healthy and in part because its felt like we've had no interest in trying to spend to contend.

TBH, I'd be 100% ok they're at .500 or so and want to sell out to accumulate talent for once and go for it. I'd imagine they'll mostly stand pat and go with the same roster that will flirt with the postseason. I don't see a dominant ace consistently of our pitchers (though we have some guys who are very good) as you usually see with those WCs that go on a run, or that guy who for whatever reason hits the playoffs and then is lights out (Wheeler for Philly in their last couple runs). Baseball is funny that way though you're totally right in that you just have to get in
I also think Ryan who could easily have ten wins, has already developed into one of the better starters in the AL - His 3.8 WAR is second only to Skeeball’s 4.5 for pitchers, who wins the Cy Young again, !if he stays healthy. Joe’s got the Fifth best WAR in MLB.

I’d say, at worst, he knocking on the door of the upper echelon club, if he’s not a member already.

Generally speaking, I would never trade good, young SPs which you have under team control, unless you have a plethora of it, aka the Marlins.

You also can’t trade Buck at this point, as he’s too valuable in his team friendly deal and Lewis hasn’t ascended the throne - if he would have stayed healthy and built on the playoff season heroics, then it’s debatable.

Additionally, you’re only three games out of the last playoff spot and the teams in front of us, have holes just like we do.
