All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Difference was moving a runner from second to third late in a tight, low-scoring game. France gave it a good shot but couldn’t get the ball past the pitcher. Altuve succeeded with his dribbler. It’s also astonishing the Twins have no choice apparently but to bat Vazquez to lead off the 10th.
Vazquez didn't need to play at all. He caught yesterday too. Rocco continues to needlessly catch him 50% of the time.

As far as Vazquez playing, with Buxton scratched and facing a lefty perhaps the Twins just wanted another righthanded bat in the lineup.

Maybe Jeffers is banged up. Who knows...

The Twins won their team record 15th-straight game on this date in 1991, beating Cleveland 4-2 in 10 innings.

The streak began in Kansas City on June 1. At the time, the Twins were in fifth place in the AL West—5.5 games behind Oakland. With the win in Cleveland, the Twins moved half a game ahead of Oakland.

The streak came to and end the next night in Baltimore when Rick Aguilera blew a two-run lead in the ninth. The 15-game winning streak was part of a larger stretch over which the Twins went 24-3.

I think the streak ender was the game playing in the background of A Few Good Men during a scene when they preparing for the case.

Unless the Annapolis station picked up the MSC feed, that sound would have been an error.

I noticed issue that the first time I saw the movie in the theater. Maybe they were watching on a dish?

I'm just not exactly sure it was the game that ended the Twins 15 Game winning streak.

Vazquez was in the original line-up when Buxton was too. This is 100% a manager decision. At the absolute minimum, you had to have him bunt in the 10th inning. But nope, he swings away and pops out to the catcher. He's 4 for his last 33, back under .200 and OPS is .530. But he'll still start 3 games this week.

So maybe Jeffers is banged up? Otherwise, could have PH Clemons at that point, moved Jeffers to C and lost the DH.

Agree with the bunting take.

Rocco doesn't play banged up guys. If Jeffers was hurt he wouldn't be DH'ing.

At most, maybe he felt Vazquez would get a better start out of SWR, but even on on defense he's not really any better than Jeffers anymore.
