All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Split squad today, Twins have 8 runs against Tampa; 7 against Atlanta. Ty France continues his hot spring, up to .563. If that continues, that's a great pickup for them.

They barreled up against Gerritt Cole yesterday, too.

Correa, Buxton and Royce only played together in 27 games last year. That needs to change.

It’ll change, probably will be fewer.

Given that Lewis suffered an injury Opening Day, while Buxton and Correa were hurt the bulk of the time after the All Star Break, I am actually surprised looking back that they played that many games together. I would have guessed 15, or 20 tops.

Less than flattering comments from Tony Clark, head of the players' union regarding the Twins thrifty ways in the Strib this morning.

1980 National League Rookie of the Year, '81 World Series Champion, and '82 All-Star Steve Howe would have turned 67 today.

Is it too early to start worrying about Lopez? He wasn't great last year and has been awful so far this spring.

On This Date in 1961: 1950 Winona graduate and 2x All-American Golden Gopher tailback Paul Giel starts the first game in Twins history—an exhibition against the Tigers at Tinker Field in Orlando.

Giel spent parts of six seasons in the majors between 1954 and '61, interrupted by two years of military service coming off his best season in 1955.

He was runner-up for the Heisman in 1953, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1975.IMG_3060.jpegIMG_3061.jpeg

Yes, it's too early.

Although there is always reason to worry about any Major League pitcher these days.

Two weeks until opening day. Still wondering about TV. I dug and found a Skor North podcast from today discussing this, and it seems to be that the Twins are confident they will have a resolution by opening day. They mentioned that last year the teams that followed this model didn't announce a resolution until right before the opener.

You definitely shouldn't worry about anything in spring training, when veterans like Lopez are usually trying out new stuff.

Lopez is a slow starter. He is very up and down until about June, then he's lights out from there on.
