Jiricek sucks. Was a terrible move to give up what we did to get that dead weight. Bye. Enjoy minor league hockey. You suck.Brink's a pretty good player, but giving up on the 22-yr old Jiricek seems a tad premature. But you have to give up assets to get assets.

Non-sequitur. Jiricek is awful. Worst move Guerin has made during his tenure to acquire that piece of shit in the first place.I knew Vegas was hitting the skids several weeks ago. I took Anaheim to win the Pacific before the Olympic break at +600, and I even took a sampling of Vegas to miss the playoffs around that time at +425. A no-brainer really; no William Karlsson, Mark Stone for what could be the rest of the year, at best questionable goaltending, this is not a good Vegas team.
Most folks are more civil on this board, Jake. You could give it a try.
Bettman thinks it produces rivalries in their respective divisions. Thinks it will produce more viewers in the early rounds. Personally I think it’s ridiculous and it’s been long overdue to go back to 1 vs 8 2 vs 7 and so onIs the NHL playoff set-up the dumbest in all of sports? As it stands now, the 6th best team in the west would have an easier path to the SC Final than the 2nd and 3rd best teams.
I don't understand what the purpose is for this format.

Sure anything can happen but damn that was over 20 years ago. Hasn’t been close to that for the Wild since. The format sucks periodJust remember anything can happen in a 7 game playoffs series. remember in 2003. No one gave the Wild a shot of upsetting Colorado and we did it. No one gave us a shot of upsetting Vancounver and we did it. I hate the format now. But anything can happen in the playoffs.
The ridiculousness of it is probably more on the other side. The team with the 6th best record can get to the Western finals without having to play a top 3 team.So we’d go Utah, Dallas Colorado instead of Dallas, Colorado, Anaheim?
Sounds like effectively the same thing
It cuts both ways every year and is all about matchups and health. Playing Dallas without Hintz (just got hurt) seems fine than a hot Utah that’s finally healthy.
Each year there is maybe one team you’d feel fine playing (St Louis last year), probably whoever is 8 in the west this year. The rest is all just so damn close anyway. Agree with Ogie that most anyone can beat anyone come playoff time with health being the biggest thing that can cause discrepancy
I guess my counter is in hockey it’s so much more how you’re playing now. Margins are razor thin. Outside of 1 or 2 teams on both ends, everyone else is so damn close. The central is just really good this year so it’s frustrating for Wild fans when this looks like our best team in a long time. It does also add some fun in that the way the central has built teams is different as is the style played there vs the pacific, so as someone who just enjoys hockey, it creates interesting matchups as you go.The ridiculousness of it is probably more on the other side. The team with the 6th best record can get to the Western finals without having to play a top 3 team.
And that is just one more reason how the current format needs to goThe ridiculousness of it is probably more on the other side. The team with the 6th best record can get to the Western finals without having to play a top 3 team.
Wally has been on today so far. 22 saves halfway through the second
