All Things 2025-26 Minnesota Twins Off-Season Thread

Will also note you are now gonna go get a new coach with a team that has a chance to be the worst team in the majors next year. You could hire the next Joe Torre to coach next year and have no idea if you look at the record. Plus that smell of suck is gonna be around this new manager for a long time. Now maybe they are decent next year, which would be great. I seriously doubt that as I see Ryan and Pablo both being traded this off season. My person option is they should have gone one more year with Rocco and let him eat the losses. Then you can bring in the new manager in 2027. I wonder if the entire coaching staff is gone also?

Maybe the players not mentally there. If the player has apathy for the game a good manager is not gonna change that.
The bench is a great motivator last time I checked 🤷‍♂️

Him no yelling at player X while in the dugout for tv cameras to see does not mean the player was not dressed down privately in the locker room. Way too much blame on Rocco for a bad hand he was dealt. I would have more respect for the twins had they fired him after the 2024 collapse vs this year.

As Reusse wrote when TK retired: He won 1,140 games. He lost 1,244. If more than two of the losses were because he got out-managed, I missed a couple.
Poetic Patrick.

One hell of a baseball writer; him at his best.

Agreed, especially Pablo, as he’s been racking up the frequent hot tub time machine trips over the last couple of seasons.

He needs a healthy first half to maximize his trade value.

I’d trade Ryan, as he wussed out in the second half; yes they gutted the team, but you could’ve win 15+ games and generated Cy Young buzz for next season and maybe increased your future earnings.

We’re a loooooooonng way from Lefty, aka Steve Carlton, and this feat for the 1972 Phils -

One of his most remarkable records was accounting for nearly half (46%) of his team's wins, when he won 27 games for the last-place (59–97) 1972 Phillies.

Yes, he won the Cy Young Award for a last place team and is still being lionized for it 50+ years later.

When life or the trade deadline gives you 🐔 shit Joey, make 🐔salad.

Any experienced manager will likely request his own staff and there is nothing the Twins did particularly well this season. So, it makes no sense that anyone is retained.

Whereas, a first time manager will acquiesce to any personnel stipulation from management.

Question for the people saying “Rocco should develop solid fundamental ball players”. I would argue players learn those things in the minors. I would also argue the minors has been an absolute shit show for years. Their teams are terrible and their coaches are not much better. Not saying Rocco is blameless, but he has not been given the keys to success for these past couple of years. Notice the hitting coach was fired last year and the new hitting coach is even worse. While the old hitting coach is leading the Blue Jays with maybe the best offense in baseball. Is that a coincidence or just bad luck.

We are one more bad season for Falvey being gone, maybe?
This is a fallacy. In any profession, any walk of life, you have to keep working on and drilling the fundamentals or they will erode. Not to mention, the object in any profession is lifelong learning. The players should continually add to their capabilities, and coaching is a major part of that.

No idea if he’s ready to retire or still has the desire to grind out some more years, but he’s my first call if I’m running things.

This would fire up the players and fans and he’d have the gravitas to do it his way, cause he’s got four rings.

Maybe the Dodgers will finally dump their stifff and hire a real manager🤷‍♂️ @tikited
Sorry, I missed you. Your message is very important to me. I am most likely on a conference call with Dave Roberts discussing his .621 career win percentage. I will get back to you most likely after the first series sweep of Cincinnati. Have a wonderful day and go Dodgers!
