I'm sure he knew this was happening, right? Is Raiola really going to sit out a year?
It would be funny if not.I'm sure he knew this was happening, right?
At a minimum, he had to know it might happen. It's just a weird decision. I suppose he can redshirt now if he wants.I'm sure he knew this was happening, right?
I wonder if there was any concern on his part of not being recovered by the start of next season? He did say he would be willing to sit out a year behind Moore if he came back, will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.At a minimum, he had to know it might happen. He will still get a free education at his final school if he wants it, even after his playing daysSeeing players attend 5 schools over the course of their college career is insane. What a weird time in college athletics.
And the sad part is that when it is all said and done a guy like this will probably have attended all these different schools for free and have nothing to show for it with the exception of whatever pay for play money he was able to accumulate while bouncing from place to place. Because you know in cases like this academics are not even in the equation.
I'm always lurking and checking in on the GOPHERS. The season didn't go well for either of us. I hope GSU's head coach is gone after next year. Has anyone watched any Navy games this year? I want their OC, a very good DC, and a great staff for both of them. Give them 5 years, and if we don't go at least 9-3 in our 4th and 5th years, beating at least 1 P5 team both years, you won't hear me b1t*hing any more about the Flex T-OptionTell @GSUsTALON hi for us
This is Nuckin’ Futs! I can’t believe how many players are out there. I feel like you should be able to field a hell of a team as there has to be some talent amongst them…that’s a lot of

Programs paying agents not to tell the kid (their client) about offers is really, really bad. Those people should be kicked out of college sports. This clip from Rich Eisen’s show details how many are in the portal and the primary issue, unregulated agents, who require no type of licensure -

The schools and NCAA don’t care about the players. It’s not at all surprising this is happening.
The players went to the courts to install this system, not sure they should be appealing to the ncaa to protect them. If they listen to bad advice that’s on them. Everyone on this message board realizes your spot is likely not going to be held while you put out feelers in the portal for more money, should be obvious to the players. The schools and NCAA don’t care about the players.
If it’s good enuff for the NFL players, it should obviously be implemented for college players as well.
I’m surprised the NCAA hasn’t been sued yet for this negligence. It’s just so damn dirty now.
I imagine a lot of those players are walk-ons who we're going to get a scholarship at their current school and are hoping to land one at a new school (e.g., dropping down a conference).
Please show me a link where they specifically requested that “agents” didn’t need to be licensed or that this be the specific model being used. The players went to the courts to install this system,
Whom should they be appealing to for protection then?not sure they should be appealing to the ncaa to protect them.

They went to court to make sure the NCAA wasn’t profiting off of their NIL.
Whom should they be appealing to for protection then?
That’s a pretty harsh take; did you not make bad choices when you were in your late teens/early twenties? If no, you may be the first I’ve ever met then. I was given numerous second chances, so I like to be generous with others.

I’m much more concerned with protecting college students from vultures who are looking to take advantage of them; that’s why there are laws and regulations - to protect people from those who look to take advantage of them.
If you don’t believe in the above, then why don’t you just come out and admit that you’re one of these guys-

Hopefully you feel better nowWhom should they be appealing to for protection then?
That's the problem. The players sued to be treated like adults and get to sit at the table. The NCAA doesn't exist to protect every player from the very thing they asked for. The players need a union and they need to make rules about who can be agents. It will happen eventually, but until then, its a shit show. But I'm sick of the athletes only wanting the sunshine without realizing there's a lot of shade too.
Once a fan realizes the NCAA and member schools don’t want NIL and revenue sharing to be successful, the dysfunction makes all the sense in the world.Hopefully you feel better now,
My point, which I thought was apparent, was that the NCAA, as the governing body of college athletics, is in charge of the rules/regulations.
They whiffed on doing that initially, as noted expertly by @50PoundHead. You apparently forgot that included when NW football team tried to unionize in 2014. Hence the Kain Colter reference by Fifty, and was sacked in that attempt. The school, NCAA, and all the powers that could be were lined up against that effort, so maybe next time you need to use the spar spar![]()

Fate of the Union: How Northwestern football union nearly came to be
When a former UCLA linebacker and a Northwestern quarterback joined forces to start a labor movement among college athletes, they rattled the NCAA to its very foundation.www.si.com
Thanks and I appreciate your thoughtful and detailed reply.Good points that people keep driving past.
I still remember reading the article about O’Bannon in SI when he went to play the college basketball game made by EA Sports, that was licensed through the NCAA. And him being dumbfounded as he stared at his stats/likeness and realizing everyone was making buck off of him and how that wasn’t fair to him or any other college athlete.I can remember when Kain Colter (maybe not the first guy, but along with O'Bannon) started to get the ball rolling on a lot of this and a good portion of the college football fan base were aghast.
it’s stealing in my book. These guys get scholarships after all and they should just be grateful to let a bunch of has-beens and wannabes in suits are raking in the cash they are generating.
The NCAA could have gotten in front of this and chose not to. Maybe we still end up where we're at now, but the path to get there could have been managed and guardrails put in place to avoid a lot of the confusion we're experiencing if the jockocracy had used better sense instead of stonewalling the players' efforts.
They could appeal to state law or the university to protect them. Not sure on incentive for the ncaa. Also not sure “predatory unlicensed agents” are more than a drop in the bucket when looking at the portal numbers. Honestly, I think the majority just hate where they are and instead of grinding through opt for what they view as an easy road to greener grasses. Please show me a link where they specifically requested that “agents” didn’t need to be licensed or that this be the specific model being used.
