All Things 2025-2026 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

Detroit beats a depleted OKC squad tonight. Thunder without SGA, Holmgren, Hartenstein, Jalen Williams, Caruso, Mitchell and still made a game of it. (Cunningham with 49 assists in his last 4 games)
Spurs won tonight and are now only 2 back of the Thunder.

Leonard listed as questionable for tonight’s game, so he will probably play and get his over 30 points.
Wolves appear to have everyone available.

Or Leonard sits and they lose, but they go into Denver on Sunday and thump the full strength Nuggets because that's how this team operates.

Edwards was fined 25,000 for throwing the ball into the spectator area at halftime last game.

They seem to be coming up with just enough support for Ant to win these games against mediocre opponents, though it's rarely Randle anymore. Credit to the Clips for playing "playoff" defense. Credit to the wolves for grinding out another road win at the right time of the year.

Ant's hero ball at the end of these games is thrilling, but it's not sustainable. He's probably a top three player now with a top one ego. Other teams will use his ego to their advantage in the playoffs.

I never would have imagined Kris Dunn as a 10 year veteran in the NBA. He has absolutely no offensive game. Never did. I think he's been in the rotation of every team for which he's played. You never know.

He made the shot, but getting in your coach's face after he told you to try to pass is a bad, bad look.

It's a players' league. Heat of the moment in a tight game. Ant creates the value and he knows it.

What's more interesting to me is Ant always credits others in his post game interviews. It has been a long time since I've seen him toss a bouquet Randle's way. And Randle has always been a Finch guy. Even if the wolves are an early out in the playoffs, Finch has enough equity to survive the disappointing end to the season. My guess is Randle is out this summer.

Dort for OKC with an obvious intent to try and trip Jokic in last night’s game. Should get hit with a huge fine and a suspension. Had the audacity to complain about being called on it. (Those OKC announcers think SGA is mugged anytime a defender gets within arm’s length of him.)

That was obviously intentional and dirty. I've never seen Jokic that mad. Dort is lucky he didn't do that in Denver. Jokic's brothers would have stormed the court and relieved him of a limb or two.

Let’s hope not 🤞

Ship him him and Jayden in some iteration to the Bucks and get Giannis and a realistic chance to win a 💍, with z z Malone at the helm and Finch back in the Euro League where he belongs 😎

Wolves sign Zyon Pullin to a two way contract.

Good game.
When I was watching the game I think I figured out Finch's secret sauce. He's fine with them playing a very loose style of basketball offensively--it's almost playground. Lot's of underhand and sidearm passes, very deep threes early in the clock. I don't watch other teams that often but I don't see other teams playing as casually as the wolves. When it doesn't work, it looks super sloppy and they blow eight point leads with 48 seconds to go. When it does work, which is most of the time, there is flow offensively and defensively and the players are happy. It seems to drive other teams crazy. Of course, you have to have the talent to run it. Fortunately, they do.

There is some structure inside the flow, but the players seem to like the freedom.

Announcers saying they thought they might see Jayson Tatum in tonight's game. Not playing, but getting very close.

All the teams in top of the West, except for Spurs, at about the same winning percentage. Be nice to get that 3 seed.
I was wrong. They passed Denver, but based on percentage, Houston is now in 3rd place. They still play the Rockets twice, and Houston has played two fewer games, so obviously lots of movement still be be decided.

Unfortunately that doesn’t win championships, unless it’s ShowTime; cause there ain’t no Magic in the Wolves rotation🤦‍♂️

Toughness and discipline win. Contenders and not pretenders don’t regularly lose to teams below them on the standings🤦‍♂️

You think Finch is a savant and I think he sux and lacks any 🏀.

My guess is he has, at the most, this season or next make the finals before he’s gone

I'm in the middle. I don't think Finch does a whole lot of actual coaching. This becomes a problem late in games/playoffs. I think Finch is well liked by his players. This is a very good thing overall. It shows trust (albeit too much trust with some players imo). I would like to see Finch sit guys who are turning it over let and right. I just do't see that happening unless they are not 1-8 rotation guys. This drives me crazy. But.......Finch is easily the most successful coach in franchise history, so I think he deserves a long leash at this point.

Great to see Naz being clutch yesterday. Not a very common occurrence lately.
Yeah, he had a couple of really nice drives. Hyland was very good offensively in that 1st half. Much needed.
Kyle will be in uniform tomorrow against Memphis.
Edwards was named Western Conference player of the week.

Houston beats Washington and has a half game on the Wolves.
Supposedly Tatum's return for the Celtics will be Friday at home against Dallas.
