All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

Ugly game, but I think the Lakers played about as well as they could have with their season essentially on the line. The Wolves were terrible, yet only lost by 9.

I don't think the Lakers can play with that intensity every game for the rest of the series.
Get Ant to shut up and play. Stop trash-talking when we are down 15. Just stop talking.

Get the coaches to know when the shot clock is at 4 seconds and relay that to the players. Still can't believe that happened.

Don't give the Lakers any extra help, in other words.

The defense was solid for three quarters last night. Do that again and again.

Ant is yelling, "I'm a bad man!" as we are getting our azzez kicked.

He's talking about his dick the other night.

STFU and just play.

These stupid 2 off days in between games really helps the Lakers.

I couldn't help but laugh when Randle hit Lebron in the face. Lebron falls and flails like a toddler having a tantrum. Then gets up, walks to the bench for :30 and then come back onto the floor as if nothing happened.

Surprised they didn’t eject Randle for that super egregious hit. /s

If the games were switched around, lose the first in this fashion and win the second like in the opener, we would probably be happy and thinking the Wolves are gonna go up 3-1
Going to try and delude myself into believing that is what transpired.

This has 7 game series all over it to me

They need to either take Rudy mostly out of the rotation, or figure out how to get him going like he was down the stretch: clogging the middle, grabbing rebounds and getting to the rim on lobs. He's getting outworked and outhustled on the glass on both ends of the floor, or when he isn't, he's fumbling the ball away like he's playoff Adrian Peterson.

Take him out of the rotation? Rudy was still great defensively last night. He was only a -2 which was the best of the starters. Luka and LeBron iso'd him 8 times and they went 1/8.

Rudy was far from the reason the Wolves lost.

Lebron iso on Rudy I’ll take every time as Lebron shoots step backs which is dumb of him.

The hard part of the just shooting stats is we get killed on the glass when Rudy is outside as he gives up penetration and kicks (hence the multiple open 3 attempts and multiple boards given up)z

Rudy has looked tough on the offensive end so far this series. Idk how to run the splits but I’d be curious the efficiency plus minus (honestly don’t know what it would look like)

Too much analysis. The law of averages returned. Not much more to it than that. The wolves shot over 50% from 3 in game one and 70% from 3 in uncontested shots. No other team had shot over 50% or 55% (can't remember) on uncontested 3's all season. Game one was a complete outlier on perimeter shooting and that was the difference.

The Lakers still haven't broken 100 and that's encouraging. The refs let LeBron get away with all kinds of abuse and that's discouraging. Every time I see a wolves player on Luka's hip instead of in front of him the ball's going in the hoop, one way or another. That's discouraging. It happened last year all the time and it happened last night. PTSD.

If Ant really is a leader, he has to get the team to calm down and focus.

Ant is an amazing player. Luka is an amazing player. LeBron is amazing at 40, which is amazing. I hope the wolves can somehow steal this thing in six. If it goes to seven in LA, there's no way 40 year old LeBron with his new partner Luka and his podcast partner and tatted up rookie coach will lose, as we all understand. It's all about stories.

I sure would like to go back to LA with a 3-1 series lead but for a Playoff team, we were dreadful at home during the season.

I agree with pretty much everything you wrote. They should try to limit how much time he spends outside.

Whenever the Wolves struggle, especially offensively, it seems like Rudy takes the brunt of the blame. Most of the time it's unwarranted.
