All Things 2024-25 College Basketball D2 and D3 Thread

With about 8 left MSUM finally seems to wake up and fight, lead 51-50. Also, Winona State won the early game against NSIC Co-Champ Southwest Minnesota State.

The Dragons had a rocky start (offense out of sync, lots of missed free throws), but shifted into the right gear late. Win and advance 69-62, on to tomorrow to play Winona State, fourth match this season.

They have Winona St number and don’t have the height to match the 7 footer. Has some eligibility left maybe could transfer to the U 😄

The semi-finals are set in the Central Region and three teams are still alive from minnesota
Washburn (Kan) will play NSIC Regular Season Co-Champion Concordia-St. Paul
NSIC Tournament Champion Minnesota State-Moorhead will play Winona State

Here's how the bracket looks there:

Also in other Midwest action, the Midwest Region bracket:

In the NJCAA national tournament, both Minnesota teams fell short. Riverland CC (Austin) lost in the first round against Salem (New Jersey)

M State-Fergus Falls CTC won their quarterfinal game against Union College (New Jersey) before falling to eventual National Champion Mohawk Valley CC (New York) in the semifinals. They then fell in the third place game against Dallas College (Texas).

At the half, Minnesota State Moorhead leads Winona State 33-24 in Central Region Semi 1

Concordia-St. Paul Vs. Washburn on deck for Semi 2.

Winona is 3-8 on free throws. Feels like watching Gophers. Terrible call at end of half.

The Dragons win 70-59 over Winona State. MSUM will play for a regional final for the first time since 2015.

At the half in Semi No. 2, Washburn leads Concordia-St. Paul, 43-37.

Washburn defeats Concordia-St. Paul, 94-78. The Central Region Final is set.

Minnesota State-Moorhead will play Washburn for a trip to the Elite Eight.

At the end of the first half, Washburn leads Minnesota State-Moorhead 47-41.

Ugly, ugly end to a great season for the Dragons. That Washburn team is really good though.

Washburn ends Minnesota State-Moorhead’s season with a 93-65 victory. The Dragons finish the season 25-9. Washburn is an exceptional team and I wouldn't be surprised if they win the DII title.
