I was listening to a podcast with Souhan, Roy Smalley and LaVelle E. Neal III. on the subject of DH, they said the Twins will likely have a roving DH all season. use it to give players a break from playing in the field or to rest people. So, whoever is not at one of the 8 defensive positions could be the DH -depending on whether they're facing a LH or RH starting pitcher.

on Miranda, the official word from Fort Meyers is that it's not serious. sounds like they were looking for a reason to keep him out of the World Baseball Classic. But, they have 3B options in Farmer or Solano.

If a team could, do you think the Twins would run multiple DH's in a game and just run out 6 or 7 fielders in an effort to give rest and avoid injury? I think they would if they could.

Speaking of the WBC, was Joe Ryan not asked/did not try for a spot on team USA? I don't think it's too homerish of a take to say that he's as good or better than the two Cardinals guys (Wainwright and Mikolas) and on the same level as Brady Singer, Kyle Freeland and Merrill Kelly. Team USA has the lineup, but the pitching looks incredibly shaky.

I was hoping/assuming that's what it was. A team that doesn't want players playing more than 3 games in a row without a rest shouldn't be volunteering them for extra games.

saw some video from Florida showing both Kirilloff and Royce Lewis taking batting practice. Kirilloff's swing is as smooth as melted butter. and Lewis looked good, too.

and Julien continues to just rake in the WBC for Canada. they have to find a place for that bat in the lineup somewhere.

Over under for the season

Buxton starting 49.5 games in centerfield?

Kirilloff starting 39.5 games at first base?

Joey Gallo starting 79.5 games at first base?

Over. Over. Under. I think #3 is a lock. Even if Kiriloff is out the full year, I don't think Gallo will be the primary 1B. Miranda/Salano/Farmer will fill it.

Correct. Gallo is a really good OF.

FWIW - blogger Ted Schwerzler of Twins Daily posted that Kirilloff has been seen "laughing and smiling" after BP sessions and is reporting no new pain.

still iffy if he will be ready on Opening Day, but barring a setback, sounds like things are trending in a positive direction. Let him get some at-bats at AAA and call him up when he's ready.

on Buxton, if anyone has said anything about the knee, I haven't seen it. He is getting at-bats in minor-league games where they can tweak the rules to get him more at-bats in a game.

Correa's cheating pal Altuve might have gotten his hand broken as Daniel Bard had one of the worst innings of control since a pre-glasses Rick Vaughn. USA bounced back nicely thanks to a grand slam from Trea Turner and lead 9-7 in the 8th.

was listening to Gleeman and the Geek podcast. they said it's doubtful that Polanco is ready for Opening Day. the Twins are saying that there are no injury concerns, but he's just behind schedule a little bit. similar on Kirilloff - Twins think he's going to be OK, but just want to give him more time to prepare.

so, Opening Day could see Farmer at 2B and Gallo or Solano at 1B, depending on whether they face a LH or RH starting pitcher.

My guess is that the Peacock game will be an eastern time zone game. Since only college football is dumb enough to have a home game at 11:00 AM;)
Peacock is taking over a bunch of B1G games too. I guess we will be forced to subscribe. Ugh.
