Hunter Greene, who many thought the Twins should have taken over Lewis, now has allowed 20 earned runs (10 HR!) in 20.2 innings for Cinci. It's early but a very rough MLB start for him.

Txs for the update - I remember doom and gloom based on his minor league numbers and that he was MLB debuting before Royce; he can still turn it around, but not similar to Ryan, Ober or Winder’s beginnings.

The A's would love to draw that type of "crowd". Monday's Attendance was 2,488 for their game against Tampa.

Viva Las Vegas. Soon?

I've been to one game there. Only stadium that ever made the Metrodome seem like a palace. Everything about it screamed 1975, including the official soft drink: RC Cola. Meanwhile the Giants stadium might be the nicest one I've ever been to. That dynamic can't work out in that market forever.

In general MLB has to be bit worried. It's this bad now, imagine if the lockout had actually cancelled games...

I haven't seen a baseball game in the Oakland Coliseum, but did go to a Vikings game there in 1996, and thought was a dump then.

As bad as the Metrodome was, there are 2 ballparks I went to that I thought were worse.

- Olympic Stadium in Montreal, essentially a bigger more cavern-like version of the HHH Dome.
- The Big A in Anaheim, before they remodeled it in the mid-90s it had 65,000 capacity for baseball. Even a crowd of 30,000 made it feel empty. After the Rams bailed they gave it an overhaul, it's not that bad now.

That's a big reason attendance has been so bad. Fans out there know the team is heading to Las Vegas and they don't want to give those owners any of their money.

The owners can't be surprised. They gutted the roster of a team that was coming off three winning seasons to make sure nobody would show up. All so they could say

"See? We can't make it here!"
 


Kepler just slid into home like a complete nanny. Should have easily scored.

Still wondering why Correa didn’t get first when he was hit the second time. Dick merrily skipped over it.
 




Broken finger is likely 4-6 weeks is my guess. Broke my middle finger on my throwing hand in 9th grade and that was about the timeline. Only way it could be worse is if its broken through a joint and requires surgery.
 







Rumor is it’s a non-displaced fracture which would be good news as those usually mean a quick heal.

I'm hoping for a return ~June 20th. Hopefully Lewis plays so well we just slide him over to 3B. I liked Urshella initially and he's a good defender, but his bat doesn't do much for me.

Someone else will no doubt be hurt by then so there should be room for him to shuffle right in somewhere.

Hmm. an owner deliberately puts a bad team on the field, in hopes of producing low attendance that will allow the team to move to a new market.

that would make a great plot for a movie.

you could have a crusty old manager, a catcher with bad knees, and a cocky rookie with a bad haircut. it practically writes itself.
 

last couple of days in Baltimore were ugly.

Bundy gets shelled. (did the covid have something to do with it?)

Duran gives up two HR's in the same inning.

Miranda not hitting and had some fielding miscues.

Polanco still out of whack at the plate.

Arraez out with covid.

Kirilloff is hitting barely over .200 in AAA with no power. don't want to panic, but this has got to be fixed one way or another.

and now Correa out for at least a month. ----although, this could have a silver lining. I've seen writers speculating that this might make Correa more likely to opt back for a 2nd year with the Twins if he misses a significant chunk of the season, thereby lowering his potential value.

and I will note that both Buxton and Correa got hit in the hands with pitches. Once is a coincidence. Twice is suspicious.
