The Twins went on a 7 game winning streak when Gary Sanchez was out. He returned tonight and they lost. Just saying.
 



Ober goes on the 10-day IL retroactive.

So the Twins call up.......Cole Sands, who is 0-3 with a 7.82 ERA at St. Paul.

What the F..........?

Maybe it is the following type of scenario -

They already have enough pitching (including spot starting Winder, if need be), so my guess is he is simply there to fill a roster space and maybe receive some instruction from Wes and the other pitchers and not burn one of the other pitchers’ options and he’ll be sent down May 1 when the roster contracts = roster management,

Buxton scratched from the lineup with a hand contusion. He has now started in CF in 8/21 games this year. Sigh.

I wouldn’t worry too much as I doubt he’ll be up for long. I’m guessing Winder will get a start as Gray may not be ready for another week or so. Sands will probably just take Winder’s long relief spot.

Gives him a taste of the big leagues in case they need him in a more important role later on. He has a 2.93 career ERA in the minors and is considered a top 20 Twins prospect.

Kepler 2 hits including a 2 run 💣 - can’t wait to see them mash the Os

This is shaping up to be a legit lineup 1-9 and Sano’s dayz as a regular are coming to an end

Correa adjusting to new time zone, or something like that means he's going to hit .400 for the next 2 months.
Kepler learning to hit opposite field stops him from being Krapler.

The only thing I don't like agreeing with you is that Sano's days being numbered. I wish he could put it together and be that guy he was supposed to be. Just wish he could do it. Lovable dude.

But yes, this lineup looks potent.

He yanked Miggy today after 2 horrible Ks and put Arrazez in in the 5th today.
I see him starting 2-3 times a week at first- for us to get somewhere this year he needs to play 4/5 a week ( spot starting in other positions as well) - he takes so many pitches and is such a tough out!
Sano looks completely lost and I wish he would revert to his All- Star form, but I think that ship has sailed. He is batting under .100 now and I don’t see that changing, unlike all the other guys who have been scuffling and are warming up ala Jeffers, Larnach and Kepler- those who have something to prove as they don’t have the track records like Polanco, Sanchez and Correa

Apparently they pulled Sano because his knee is still bothering him. A replay showed him pulling up while running the bases after his last at-bat.

They have to lose two guys after tomorrow. Guessing it will be Sands and the 3rd catcher.

Yes, the TV broadcasters,alluded to the above Sano injury scenario as happening in the walk off win against the White Sox and that’s why he didn’t start the last couple of previous games at first prior to yesterday.

I still stand by my forecast that we’ll see ARraez starting 2-3 times per week to get him 4-5 starts a week, as his bat is 2 valuable to not have in the lineup regularly and obviously a huge upgrade over Sano’s at this point. First is also a more sedentary spot and might be more restful for Luis’ knees as well.
They may end up working AK in at first as well; right know Larnach and Kepler have earned their ABs and Garlick is a good option in the OF against Lefties. Sano and his sub .100 average appear to be the odd man out at this juncture.

Yep, Sands is probably there to piggy back Winder today. Once Kirilloff is ready I’m assuming Celestino will go down.
 

Prime example of the Buxton affect in that 1st inning. SS had to hurry his throw resulting in an error and the start of a 5-run inning.
 

Perfect example of what has been referenced earlier in this thread regarding our D vs. others-

Morneau mentioned in the pregame that we're in the Top 5 in multiple defensive categories (we only have 4 errors so far). Tampa boots another one in the first inning and that opens the floodgates for a monster inning and puts on track for the W and series win.

Kep goes to left again - so excited about seeing him figure it out.
Tampa's hat/tops are hideous and not cool ugly like the 80's SD and Houston unis.

Correa heating up, Kepler heating up. A lot better feeling than 2 weeks ago. This offense looks good all of a sudden. Hopefully this is permanent.

Like Gopher_In_NYC says, "Kep goes to left again - so excited about seeing him figure it out." I hope this continues and is a sign of greatness to come. There is a lot of potential with this team including the pitching staff that secretly is damn good.

Great attitude - love it!

At this point last year I was starting to contemplate canceling my MLB monthly subscription was so steamed

Yeah last year wasn't a lot of fun. I was running out of steam myself, thinking that was a trend for a few years. Consequently I paid little attention to the offseason, other than Correa which came out of nowhere. Then I caught the fever again (like every year). Slow start, but boy they look good now.
 

Sands with a quick 54.00 ERA. Should go down by a couple touchdowns soon.

Kirilloff so far hitting .200 at AAA with no extra-base hits.

I would not be surprised if the Twins just left him in St. Paul for a stretch, just to see if he can stay healthy and get his swing back.

on the plus side, Larnach is looking a lot more comfortable at the plate. And he'll need to - Garlick went out Sunday with a leg problem.

If Celestino can just hit a little, he's a good defensive outfielder with some speed.

Anything is better than bringing the Caveman back up from AAA.
