All Things 2022 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

I'm calling it now. If Buxton stays healthy he finishes top 3 in MVP voting.
I made this EXACT same prognostication last year, not sure if it was on here too, but I definitely did on The Athletic in response to Jim Bouton’s column that the Pale Hose would prevail; therefore, if/when double Bs is injured, you 🐻 full responsibility for jinxing him

How could the Twins not have made a better offer for Manaea? That was not some steep prospect price that San Diego just paid. Unbelievable poor decision by the Twins front office to not step up here.

They refuse to trade for "rentals" generally. Very dumb in this case.

Padres have a pretty strong farm, but their 12th and 24th prospects? Lots of fans out there wondering why their favorite team couldn't top that.

My take here is not many teams were pursuing him very hard. That might include the Twins. May be shooting for someone better?

Sunday - April 3 -

top of 6th, Twins lead Orioles 6-0.

Sonny Gray 4IP, 0H, 6K

Buxton 2 2B, Urshela 2 2B, Sano HR

on the Oakland trade, Manaea is a LHP on the last year of his contract. Montas has 2 years of team control left - and his salary is less than Manaea's. that's why Montas - if traded - will have a much higher price tag.

I'll be surprised if they don't. Friday will be dry, but still windy and cold. This is why baseball should not start until May 1.
I refuse to buy tickets far in advance of any game before June 1. If I want to go, I buy same day or the day before.

I refuse to be uncomfortable outside to watch baseball.

for all of its faults, the one thing the Metrodome provided was the certainty that a game would be played. Which matters if you're coming from outstate MN or a neighboring state to attend a game.
I can remember watching a game at the old Met while wearing a snorkel parka. (and yes, it was a Twins game, not a Vikings game - but the parka made it easier to smuggle in beer....)

Outside of 2010/2011 there's never been any reason to buy tickets far in advance.

At minimum it seems you would want to start northern teams on the road for the first half of the month or even schedule teams in your own division so you can have many opportunities to re-schedule.

I think they've tried, and still try to do that at times, but there are too many teams in the north to do that for everyone.

Baseball is meant to be be played in the summer, and the season is too long to begin with. At minimum cut out the April games and start May 1.
