All Things 2022 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

if this ends really badly, I think that puts the front office in a spot where they have to do something in the off season.

if Falvey and Levine come out with "oh, it was all the injuries, and we'll be fine next year," the Twins will go into next season with less fan interest than at any time since the bad years at the Dome.

They're going to draw about 1.78 million this year. per-game avg currently at 22,024. by far the lowest in the Target Field era.

this will be their lowest attendance (not counting 2021 with covid restrictions) since 2001, when they also drew about 1.78 million with a per-game avg of 22,011 at the Dome.

but, they will not challenge their worst year for attendance. in 1981, a strike-shortened year, and the last year at the Met, they averaged about 7,700 fans a game.

All true. I'm just not sure Jim Pohlad cares.

They are not going to do a thing. They are going to shop for bargain pitchers and a right handed bat, which could be a guy released from someone else’s 40 man just like Garlick. They are gonna hope everyone is healthy and run it back. Yes a coach to two will be replaced or moved to a different roll. That’s it.

Look at what they did coming into 2022. Their off season free agents were Dylan Bundy, Chris Archer, and Joe Smith, until Correa was dropped in their lap cause no one was gonna give him the money and Boras is the best agent in the world.

Joe Smith landed with the Mets btw and blew a lead the other night
Good pitcher at one point whose now past his expiration date

Wondering if Judge gets 61 and Uncle Albert 700 - saw an article that stated after having a horrid first half, he visited Tom Brady’s doctor and viola he has the 2nd highlight post all-star break OPS behind Judge.

I hope both succeed!

There isn’t going to be a whole lot of great options for SP free agents this offseason. Their best option to acquire good SP is always going to be from trades.

You’re kinda ignoring the trades they made last offseason. The Gray one was good. The Pagan/Paddock one didn’t pan out of course but it’s not like picking up those few free agents was the only thing they did.

The only move they made that was good was Gray. Of course you gave up a first round pick for him. The other trades were no good.

It is impossible to find good starting pitching cause everyone wants it and usually they are resigned before hitting free agency.

Yeah, there's no reason to add a starter if they're not better than Gray/Mahle and none of them are. Sign Jose Abreu to DH, get a catcher, a RH hitting CF'er/4th OF'er and bring back Taylor Rogers and Fulmer. If you're in contention in July, add a starter then.

2B: Arreaz
SS: Polanco
CF: Buxton
DH: Abreu
LF: Larnach
1B: Miranda
RF: Wallner
3B: Urshella
C: Jeffers

Bech: FA Catcher, FA OF'er, Gordon, Garlick/Cellistino/Kepler

Rotation:

Gray
Mahle
Ryan
Meada
Ober

Bullpen: Duran, Rogers, Fulmer, Lopez, Thielbar, Moran, Alcala, Jax

Fun with Exs-

Watching Yanks vs Sox

Yanks -
AaronHicks in left hit a game tying homer - always liked him, however only batting .218 this year
Martin Gonzalez -
Playing first and batting .151

Sox
Rich Hill doing his best Jamie Moyer imitation and trying to keep them in the game

Rob Refsnyder -
Patrolling center for the Sox and is hitting over .300 in limited ABs - should have kept him vs. captain Cavey

FYI - tommy Pham just made two of the worst throws from left ever seen I the annals of baseball history; makes Cave look like Jim Rice by comparison.

You forgot Pagan. Plus I don’t think the twins want anything to do with Rogers as he was terrible this year.

Just saw it flashed on the Apple broadcast, Judge is leading all triple crown categories now, would be sweet for Luis to snag the batting title and deny him

Spring training is now basically upon us. Hope springs eternal.

THIS IS OUR YEAR!

Win Twins!!
Sigh. The Twins have been eliminated from the playoffs. This was not our year.

Next year is our year!

Win Twins!!

1/2 Prescient Post.

Cool that he got his all alone and Judge can get his this weekend - good job baseball gods!

Arguably the best overall RH hitter in the modern era.
First Latin player on the 700 HR Club, sorry ARod🫢
Universally liked and respected as well!
