I still think Trea is the best of the SS's out there. Game-changing player.

Lux is really good, but they definitely need a true SS. I want Bogarts at this point.

Then resign Justin Turner to platoon with Muncy, Lux, etc. to round out the infield.

Not sure who is going to be the big F/A starting pitcher? They need one though.

I hate the Giants and Yankees equally, so I hope Judge surprises everyone and signs elsewhere.
Rodin may leave SF - Yanks want him badly

from all accounts, San Diego offered Turner more money. But Turner chose the Phillies - allegedly because his wife is from New Jersey and she wanted to be closer to her relatives.

hey, either way he's making a bleep load of money. But it's not always as simple as the team that makes the biggest offer wins. There can be other factors - personal factors - that impact decisions.

and that Phillies lineup is looking really interesting. If they have enough pitching, that could be a heck of a team. (but they won't be as much fun as the 1993 Phillies. Wild Thing, Kruk, Dykstra - that team was a hoot)

First year of the MLB lottery. Twins were slotted at #13 based on record but moved all the way up to #5.

Can't watch the video. Does he mean that as a compliment or an insult?
as I read it, he was saying that the Twins are usually going after small fish in the off-season, but now they're going after really big fish - like open-water ocean fishing as opposed to going out on the lake in a rowboat and fishing for crappies.

I think you may be right. At first I thought he saying they're tossing out a little bait in the vast ocean just hoping to get lucky. Listening to it again, I think he's saying they're after bigger fish

What Boras said about the Twins was unimportant. I was more interested in the amount of time that he spent discussing the Twins. If the Twins weren't being seriously considered by Boras and Correa, Boras' answer would have been brief.

Walker to the Phis and Tailon to the Cubbies and I gave zero confidence we can get Rodin, as he’s wanted by the big boys.
Looking like no marquee pitching signing for this season either.

Why not target the Walker/Tailon level of talent and stay in your lane, since you have alligator arms when the church comes.

Judge back to the Yankees. Are the Giants going to throw that money at Correa now?

He bet on himself and won big time, to the tune of about an additional $10 million a year. The money is nuts for a supposedly-dying sport.
The Mets are already at $298 million payroll for 2023. Every $ they spend from now on will be luxury taxed at 50%. Apparently they don't care.

Steve Cohen is a multi-billionaire hedge fund founder who stated his goal was to win the WS within five seasons- upcoming season is year three. Those guys only care about one outcome - winning!!

I thought his most telling comment was that the Twins ownership is in the Top 10 richest and then he made his comment about the fishing - to me, it was sending a message to them that they need to pony up more cash

Wouldn't it be, "more bait?"

All this mystery and nonsense around the Correa offer is just silly. If you want to sign him he’s gonna cost at least $350million over 10 years. He’s not gonna take something lower than that unless the entire market is dry. He’s not gonna take some contract that allows him to opt out every 2 or 3 years unless the market dries up. If the twins want to sign him them stop with the foreplay and get the stupid deal done by offering him the contract he wants.

I look back at the Donaldson contract which was 4 years and $92million for a 34 year old player who appeared to have minimal suitors after an injury plagued 2018 and came back ok in 2019. This same front office had no issue outbidding themselves on that contract and that was signed in January of 2022. If you were willing to grossly over pay for a washed up 3rd basemen then you sure the hell should be willing to overpay for 28 year old muti-time All star and gold glover that will bring way more to your team than Donaldson did. Plus if it doesn’t work out and you wanna get out of the contract you can just like you did with the Donaldson deal.

If you as the twins don’t wanna do that then move on with life and sign other players before they are gone. You have a lot of holes on this team and over $50million to spend. Don’t save it now and have to overpay for people you don’t want.

MLB desperately needs a hard salary cap and a salary floor. What the Mets/Yankees/Dodgers do is gross, but so is what the Pirates/A's/Rays do.

Correra may like playing here (who knows?)- to me it was simply Boras telling them they need to step up or step back- that’s it.

I agree that they need to be way more decisive or it will be the Filene’s Basement every off- season.

All the decent mid rage pitching talent is vamanos already.

I am sure the owners would love one as you are limiting what they can pay for players. The MLBA will never go for it and they are the most powerful union in sports. If I’m Correa why do I want a salary cap to limit how much money I can make when it takes a minimum of 6 years to reach free agency. The divide between what makes sense for betterment of the game and what the players / owners what is enormous.

That's right. It's a horrible, socialist system for the players.

If there's a cap, then team control for 6 years needs to go away. Two or three years at most.

But then you'd also have to address rookie wages, draft wages, etc.

well, if you believe what various people are posting on Twitter, it's down to the Twins vs the Giants in the Correa sweepstakes.

Twins have also reportedly made an offer to Christian Vazquez - Catcher - batted .274 last year with 9 HR and 52 RBI, playing with Astros and Red Sox.

haven't seen them linked to much of anything on the pitching side.

Will be interesting (if we find out) how much the Giants offered Judge; watched several hours of MLB as they are at the meetings and SF was telling everyone and anyone that they would not be outbid for him - whoops 😅

T we in’s we received a cursory mention reg Rodon - another guy who did the one year deal and now is backing up the 🛻 to have lots of these loaded💰💰💰💰.

His stats over the last three years are unreal and rank in the Top 5 For most of the important ones.

Maybe trade for pitching if they ink Correra and send some young guns out?
