All Bo does is win...Congratulations to the sweet 16. .

You Badger fans really do need to find a Badger site with Badger threads. Posting on Gopherhole does not make sense.

+1. Those with very low self-confidence tend to feel the need to gloat at any opportunity.

I've seen your comments on Beckyville. "I don't hate Minnesota" Your sir, are a bold face lier!. Now go back to that tons of fun wife of yours that weighs herself on a meat scale every morning and keep your comments on the skunk site.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Ruppie....you confuse amusement with hatred! Minnesota's fans, teams, and coaches provide much entertainment!

Add me to the short list of Gopher fans that like to see other Big Ten teams do well in the NCAA tournament. I want to see an all Big-Ten final four.

My take: Being a Gopher fan doesn't require wanting to see our rivals do poorly. On the contrary, I feel that having the rest of our league do well in the NCAA is good for the league...

So yes, I want to see Wisconsin win any game that is against any non-Big Ten team.

Bring on the hate.

I'm with you on this bk. Team first, but then conference. Go B1G!

Here is all I have to say Kaupa. For the sake of life and limb, I certainly hope you don't exhibit those cheers in public.:cheer:

Nice attitude.

Reminds me of when I was sitting at the bar in a Dave & Busters near Schaumburg, IL on the evening of March 20th, 1997. I was the only Gopher fan in the place, surrounded by Badgers, Wildcats and Illini. All of us cheering for the Gopher...

Go Boilermakers...could end up with 5 Big Ten teams in Sweet 16!

I won't hate, I respect your opinion. I will never understand it, however. I guarantee that if we were a Big Ten championship contender in football and/or basketball, Wisconsin fans would not cheer for us.

I understand wanting the conference to do well, and I agree to some extend. But that does not include our arch-rivals. Just my opinion.

+1. you are saying what 99.5% of gopher fans think. it is that random 0.5% that do post here who usually like to spout off the loudest with some of these stupid, bizarro-world, pro-becky badger rants. just let them get it out of their systems, i guess. ??

I somewhat agree with what BK is saying about the Big Ten doing well, and even about the Badgers doing well in the NCAA tournament. I will cheer on OSU, MSU, IU and I really want to be able to cheer on the Badgers because it really is good for the national exposure of the conference. But I can't do it. And I don't think it has anything to do with style of play, "clutching" defense or any of the players. It is one sole being that makes me hate the Badgers basketball program like I do, and that is Bo Ryan. When Dick Bennett was coaching there, and I was in school at the U, I would cheer for the Badgers to win in the NCAA tournament. But that is because I have a ton of respect for Bennett as a coach. The single thing that is different is Bo Ryan.

Earlier on this thread, someone was ridiculed for saying they would rather lose than have Bo as the coach. I have thought about this scenario multiple times over the years, and discussed with my Badger fan family members. I will never say that Bo can't coach, because the man obviously can coach with the best of them. But I simply can't handle the constant whining on the sidelines, the snarky looks, and the pompous clapping after a questionable call. As a coach myself, these are things that I will never do, because I don't think it sets a good example for my players, and honestly, I don't want to look like an idiot. If I was coaching against Bo, and after a few calls go UW's way, I would calmly ask the referees if I need to yell and scream and be a jerk to get some calls, because evidently that is what's happening.

I would have a really hard time feeling good about the Gophers if the coach acted like Bo does. It's embarrassing.

What I don't get....the people that hate Bo's whining but then don't mind Izzo or Thad.

I'm not saying Bo doesn't whine.

Wow....you must really hate Izzo then if that's your assessment of Ryan.

Izzo is not even half as bad as Ryan. No one is.

Izzo is not even half as bad as Ryan. No one is.

I can't count the number of times after a dumb and obvious foul by a Badger, the camera shows a close up of Bo doing his impression of the Grinch dealing with constipation, and I assume that he is yelling at his player for taking stupid foul, and then a different camera angle shows that he is yelling at the ref for calling the dumb and obvious foul.

You're saying Izzo whines more than Ryan? Really?

Living in Ohio Valley he probably doesn't even go to the games because he would have to rent a U-Haul to transport his obese wife. So between his wife being the size of Mt. Rushmore, he probably can't see around her to see Bo's antics on TV.

You can tell I've hurt Ruppert's feelings when he posts like this. Good stuff Ruppert!

Does it matter? Coaches getting on the refs is part of the game. I could not care any less about it. Bob Knight, Gene Keady, Tom Izzo, Bo Ryan, Thad Matta.....what do they have in common? Winning in the Big Ten. So their "whining" bothers the bottom feeders. Why do I care?

Does it matter?

You brought Izzo up, not me. I was just commenting on the part where you made it sound like Izzo whines as much as Ryan. That is not true.

Coaches getting on the refs is part of the game.

I don't disagree.

Bob Knight, Gene Keady, Tom Izzo, Bo Ryan, Thad Matta.....what do they have in common? Winning in the Big Ten.

No one said they haven't won.

So their "whining" bothers the bottom feeders.

1. Ryan coaches at our biggest rival. Of course people are going to jump on him more than others. That's the nature of the rivalry.
2. Of the current coaches in the Big Ten, Bo Ryan whines more than anyone else. Hard to argue that.
3. Most everyone agrees he's a good coach, they just don't like his antics on the sideline. I agree, I don't like it either.

Why do I care?

Good question. I have no idea why you would care, but obviously you do or you wouldn't be here defending him.

You brought Izzo up, not me. I was just commenting on the part where you made it sound like Izzo whines as much as Ryan. That is not true.

Is there a statistical measure here? Can anyone point to anything that can measure this without bias? Otherwise, who cares?

Of the current coaches in the Big Ten, Bo Ryan whines more than anyone else. Hard to argue that.

I wouldn't argue against the notion that Minnesota fans think he whines the most. Why? Because.....

Ryan coaches at our biggest rival. Of course people are going to jump on him more than others. That's the nature of the rivalry.

Bingo!

I have no idea why you would care, but obviously you do or you wouldn't be here defending him.

This is fun! It's sports! Enjoy it. I don't need to defend Ryan....but I can be entertained by Minnesota fans hating the guy and creating scenario's to justify that hate.

I get a kick out of the establishment of the moral high ground. Anyone saying "I'd rather lose than have Bo Ryan as a coach" is hilarious. On the same message board where cheating coaches like Clem and others are rationalized (nice work by dpoll to point out the absurdity of that - great work dpoll! Certainly your best stuff!).

Is there a statistical measure here? Can anyone point to anything that can measure this without bias? Otherwise, who cares?

You're kinda all over the place here. In one breath you say Izzo whines more than Ryan. In the next you say there is no way to determine who whines more because there is no statistical measure.

I wouldn't argue against the notion that Minnesota fans think he whines the most. Why? Because.....

I guarantee most other fans of the Big Ten would agree.

If that's fun for you, then by all means. I personally would rather be on my own message board talking about my upcoming game against Syracuse. But that's me. Have fun.

Really? All I said is that Minnesota fans must really hate Izzo. Didn't assign any statistic. Just that he's always on the officials. When posted, I was thinking more along the lines of him being longer tenured in the Big Ten. I couldn't tell you if Izzo, Ryan, or Matta whine the most. I can tell you, they are head and shoulders above the other coaches for victories. They have that in common.

I guarantee most other fans of the Big Ten would agree
.

Another unmeasurable! I love it.

Minnesota fans measuring the likability of a UW coach is really good internet entertainment!

You still haven't answered why you would vacation in WI and not go to the Dells...

You can tell I've hurt Ruppert's feelings when he posts like this. Good stuff Ruppert!

Hurt my feelings? Junior, when it comes to Becky I have no feelings, just pitty for their paranoid fans who live the concept of "Never, Never, Land" ( "never grow up") Your constant dribble about Becky is like turning a little kid loose in a candy store. Let's drive a point in that blockhead. Becky has never won a National Championship. Is that clear? I mean like, "crystal clear" ?? Now, there is a sale on hog feed at Mills Fleet Farm. Bring the trough and take her to lunch:clap:

Just to be clear, ruppert, since we're on the basketball board and we're (presumably) talking about basketball, Becky has won a national championship, in 1941.

Just to be clear, ruppert, since we're on the basketball board and we're (presumably) talking about basketball, Becky has won a national championship, in 1941.

That doesn't even count. How many of us were alive for that?

Let's drive a point in that blockhead. Becky has never won a National Championship.

We're on the Basketball board, right? 1941 saw the UW win a National Championship awarded following a tournament of conference champions. The championship was awarded following their final game....not before it. However, I don't bang you over the head with that. Why? Because I live in the now....as in enjoying UW very much today. And I couldn't tell you anything about that season as I wasn't alive....my Dad, was a few months old, and my mom wasn't born.

So are we on for getting together this summer? You and I and the Mrs.?

Just to be clear, ruppert, since we're on the basketball board and we're (presumably) talking about basketball, Becky has won a national championship, in 1941.

Was the Grinch coaching the team at that time? Probably was the same style minus the shot clock.

That doesn't even count. How many of us were alive for that?

It counts. It is just irrelevant to the conversation about where the program is today.

If it were relevant, I am pretty sure the 60's, 70's and 80's would not have been so bad.
