All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

Defense is looking mighty suspect too. Could see Brosmer sooner than we think

I didn’t understand the hype around McCarthy. I saw him play 1 impressive game in college. A shit ton of guys could play QB on those Michigan teams and do well. He didn’t have many challenges, he had it pretty easy. And to another posters point, when you know the defensive calls, it’s pretty easy. I liked Penix over McCarthy. Brosmer is a better QB than McCarthy.

Y tho? They already chose to not pay him and move on from him.
If they feel they can salvage the season and make the playoffs that's probably their most viable option. You bring in a guy who knows the system and has a substantial level of rapport with Jefferson. If this season is a wash one of your top priorities is keeping JJ happy. I'd love to see Brosmer come in but if they're feeling pressure from the ownership and the fanbase to win now, the smart move would be a quick fix option. Wentz and Brosmer don't have the track record Cousins does and he's potentially available.

As an aside, it makes me depressed thinking of Cousins being our qb again. I just see that as being one of the more realistic front office plays if McCarthy is hot garbage.

1 and 0 ! Lock your doors we stole one.
We looked horrible in every phase in the first half.
Interested to see what we look like in week 2. Many say that teams improve the most between weeks one and two. Goodness, sooo very much to clean up. Will we? Can we?
I was in the group thinking Brosmer could fix the confusion with relaying the play calls when JJ was struggling with the play clock and reads. Fortunately JJ did get better.
Jefferson had two drops....that's about his typical season total isn't it?
It seems we have a punt returner!!! He was great! And Mason can run through and over people...nice to see the Vikings able to run again.

I’m in a league on sleeper. In the first half I was curious about Brosmer and tried to find him. Had to scroll for a while to find him and I know that once a QB is projected 0 points it doesn’t matter much but good god!

Sleeper has him at 169, nice, of the available QBs. Guys ahead of him? Joe Webb, DJU, and even MITCH LIEDNER. Insanity for someone who is QB3 but behind a burnt out arm who they signed off the street.

McCarthy's pick 6 was emblematic of his time at college. I watched a lot of Michigan during his time there and he would often have 2-3 mind-numbing throws every game (See the TCU game) As Vikes fans we hope for the best.

Watched the final 11 minutes or so. Sounds like I got to see some of the best parts of the game for a Vikes fan.

Anywho one of the color guys mentioned the game slowed down (finally) for JJ in the 4th Quarter. We had the same issue with Max at the start too. Bodes well for the future.

lol this aged well
McCarthy looked shaky at the start and the OL wasn't doing him any favors. The pick-6 was on a ball he should have just thrown out of the end zone, I think I recall Joe Mauer doing the same thing in the state championship game when he was QB at CDH (I may be off base on that). You just don't throw across the field that late in the play. Stupid mistake.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why McCarthy gets ragged on here. I get that he played at Michigan and had the keys to the Escalade that Harbaugh put together, but the thing I noticed about him in the half-dozen games I watched of him in college is that he has incredible instincts. He doesn't have the biggest arm or the fastest legs, but he has the "it" factor that more physically gifted players often lack.

I honestly don't know how the Vikings will do this season. Put a gun to my head and I'd say a couple games above or below .500. That said, it will be interesting to see how McCarthy develops through the season. Not having Addision last night put a crimp in things.

I agree with a lot of what you wrote and the OL was a big reason for the early struggles. I don't understand those that think he lacks physical traits though. He's big and has a great arm, one of the best at the combine last year. You could really see it on the TD pass to Jefferson.

Nobody's a special breed. I see it time and again "omg our fans" and you go look and it's the same thing everywhere across sports.
I know (or have hung with) fans from most teams out there in the NFL...I will just agree to disagree. :)
