All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

I agree with a lot of what you wrote and the OL was a big reason for the early struggles. I don't understand those that think he lacks physical traits though. He's big and has a great arm, one of the best at the combine last year. You could really see it on the TD pass to Jefferson.
I was comparing him to someone more physically gifted like Caleb Williams. McCarthy certainly clears the bar of needed athleticism to succeed as a QB at the pro level. He has clearly muscled up some from his time at Michigan, but it hasn't affected his throwing. The bullet to Jefferson was a big-time throw and should dispel any notion about his arm strength.

McCarthy looked shaky at the start and the OL wasn't doing him any favors. The pick-6 was on a ball he should have just thrown out of the end zone, I think I recall Joe Mauer doing the same thing in the state championship game when he was QB at CDH (I may be off base on that). You just don't throw across the field that late in the play. Stupid mistake.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why McCarthy gets ragged on here. I get that he played at Michigan and had the keys to the Escalade that Harbaugh put together, but the thing I noticed about him in the half-dozen games I watched of him in college is that he has incredible instincts. He doesn't have the biggest arm or the fastest legs, but he has the "it" factor that more physically gifted players often lack.

I honestly don't know how the Vikings will do this season. Put a gun to my head and I'd say a couple games above or below .500. That said, it will be interesting to see how McCarthy develops through the season. Not having Addision last night put a crimp in things.
No Darrisaw or Addison as well, can't hurt things for JJ when they return

McCarthy is legit fast. Not sure what you're talking about there.

He gets ragged on (or maybe better to say he faces skepticism) because he played on a team that cheated and he knew which plays were being run for the majority of his good seasons. Also because he only threw 713 career college passes. Cam Ward threw double the number of passes in his FBS career. He also is coming off a major knee injury and is a rookie.

These are all things that are fair to cause skepticism in my opinion.

Fun fact... McCarthy runs a faster 40 yard dash than Williams. 4.48 vs 4.57s

I do not know the answer to this question. Did JJ himself know the plays were being "stolen" as this was being done by the coaches, or so I thought? Just wondering.

I don't know how they couldn't know. Why steal signs of you're not going to tell players what's coming?

Thanks. Makes sense. For JJ as QB, I saw it more of the sideline calling in something based on what the defense and signs were to make a last second adjustment. Regardless, he doesn't have that benefit now if it was there before.

I am in the camp of being skeptical but rooting like hell for JJ. It does bother me a bit as a fan interacting with other Vikings fans that you almost get shot down immediately if you dare to criticize or question anything about JJ. Almost reminds me a little bit of the Christian Ponder defenders back in the day (although there is almost zero chance JJ will suck as bad as Ponder).
