The FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2023 will take place from July 15-23, 2023 in Madrid, Spain and will feature the best 16 teams in the world. All the action will be streaming live on

Canada’s best finish at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup came in 2017 as the team captured a historic bronze medal, thanks to a 67-60 victory over Japan. Canada is coming off a fifth-place finish at the tournament in 2021 — the last held U19 Women’s World Cup.
Carly Clarke, who as head coach helped Canada win bronze in 2017, returns as the U19 Women’s National Team head coach this summer. Clarke, who is an assistant coach with the Senior Women’s National Team, led Canada’s U23 women’s national team to a gold medal at the inaugural GLOBL JAM last summer in Toronto.
On the bench alongside Clarke are assistant coaches Marlo Davis and Jessica Roque, while Nick DeAdder will join the staff as a performance analyst.
Canada is in Group D and will face China (July 15, 8:45 am ET / 5:45 am PT), Czech Republic (July 16, 6:15 am ET / 3:15 am PT) and Egypt (July 18, 5:45 am ET / 2:45 am PT). All 16 teams participating in the event will advance to the competition's Final Phase with a single-elimination format in place from the Round of 16 onwards.
Last summer, Canada finished second at the
FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship 2022 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to qualify for this summer’s FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2023.
Cassandre Prosper and Syla Swords have been named to the Senior Women’s National Team roster for the upcoming FIBA Women’s Americup 2023. which runs July 1-9, 2023, and will join the U19 team in Spain for the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2023.

Women’s High Performance National Team Age-Group Assessment Camp in April, which was held in Portland, Oregon in conjunction with the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit.
Canada is currently ranked 5th overall in the
FIBA women’s age-group rankings, presented by Nike, up three spots following the conclusion of the FIBA 2022 Youth Events.
