Vittorio might be smallish for "PF", but has some length. Have watched him w/Spiece; starts and plays a lot for them but certainly not a focal point of the team... there to rebound, defend... not sure where he fits yet for college - there is upside... haven't seen it fully realized yet though and the question is whether it will be. Bruce Weber is on him pretty good...

Looked like a probably mid-major guy, but attracting bigger schools now...

Looks a lot more like a SF than PF. He also doesn't appear to be a great athlete, he barely got off the ground. It's rare that a Gopher recruit doesn't have a single dunk in his highlight video, with that being said he looks pretty skilled.

He doesn't have an offer from us. On Rivals, he's 3 stars and reports having offers from Boston U., Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Kent State, and Toledo. He's rated 88 on ESPN.

looks like a plan B. high quality high major recruit unless he gets another growth spurt

Ahhhhhh! I don't want any "spring recruits!" If we need to, we should just carry over a scholarship (or two) to the loaded class of 2014. If he's worth offering, than offer him, but please just don't offer him to be a "spring recruit."

Not quite - RIVALS reports him having offers from those places perhaps, but that can be something very different than what the kid says/doesn't say.

I want a 6'8 power forward to play above the rim, not below it. If he wants to be successful in college, he needs to start the transition to small forward if you ask me.

Thanks man.

Looks like we are the leader for this guy...

Vitto Brown was offered by Minnesota last night and now has the Gophers as his leader.

There are plenty of examples of successful PF's that play below the rim, especially in college. It's a great attribute to play above the rim but far from necessary.

Kids got good hands, a wide base, long arms, and a decent jumper. If you watch some of the other videos on him, he is more explosive than he looks in the one that was posted.

Looks more 6'6 to me...decent low D1 recruit or solid D2 player...cannot believe the gophers offered this guy!

KSU, Illinois, and Butler did too. I think you are overreacting a bit.

No, they didn't. They're in his "top 4", but he didn't have offers from any of the 4 until Minnesota offered yesterday. His offers are Minnesota, a few MAC schools, and Boston U.

I happen to agree with BuckyGopher. When I watched the video yesterday, my thoughts were, "I'd be happy with this guy if I were a fan of NDSU or SDSU, but not Minnesota."

watched a few other videos

and I got no problem with the gophs offering him, seems to be a good ball handler and passer for his size, has some range and at 6'7" 215 (if those are right) can probably do some banging down low.

Not trying to be a jack, but how can you tell how tall someone is from a video?

Tubby has not recruited a bust yet why would he now?

Hard to judge kids from these videos. One thing for sure, this video had the most annoying music ever.

I am obviously not a scout or have any credentials with that...but I did play college ball (much smaller D2) and can somewhat see skill and potential on a video. With Vitto, I see a low major D1 player, just my opinion.

He didn't question how you can tell how good he is, he questioned how you can tell his height, which you can't.

Well unless every player on that court is around 6'4 to 6'6 than I would say he is not 6'8. And also, he has not dunked 1 in all of his highlight tapes on youtube...means he is either horribly un-athletic or obviously not 6'8.

That's the thing, you don't know how tall everyone else is, so how can you tell how tall he is in comparison? You can't. That's the point. Not trying to pick a fight, just stating the obvious.

From tripledoubleprospects:

Name: Vitto Brown

Height: 6’8
Weight: 210

Position: Center

School: Bowling Green
Hometown: Bowling Green, OH

AAU: Spiece Indy Heat/All-Ohio Grey
Class: 2013

Evaluation: The top defensive big in the ’13 class in Ohio, no one alters or blocks more shots then Vitto. A strong build with long arms that can get off the floor high and quick his impact on the defensive end is huge because he can guard any post player one on one without any help. Emerging offensive threat with a decent stroke out to 15 feet and the ability to put the ball one the floor once or twice. Solid rebounder and finisher who uses his strong base to play with power.

Bottom Line: Looks to be right in the middle of the mid-major plus category. Has plenty of MAC and Atlantic 10 interest, with several offers at the moment. Defensive specialist that plays hard, passionately, and with a high IQ who has the capabilities to become an offensive threat.

then you haven't looked at all of his videos on youtube

He has a couple of nice dunks, 1 baseline drive over a player and another alley-opp (sp?) where he gets pretty high above the rim at least form the angle shot from. Youtube it he looks pretty athletic and even at 6'7" I am just fine with.

Aaaaaaaaand that right there is why Tubby wants him.

I also played college basketball, and trust me, this kid can dunk, and is pretty athletic. He gets off the floor quick in some of the other videos. Even if he is playing against smaller players, he looks pretty athletic to me. I also like how he handles the ball, and his shooting stroke is solid.

Did we make him an offer he couldn't refuse? That's all I want to know.
