6'8" PF Vitto Brown lists Gopers in his top 4

UW has now offered Brown as well.

What!? Doesn't UW and the Gophers realize that guys who played really small level D2 college hoops thinks he grades out as a low major by watching his video?

I'm not trying to overreact here, but what's the point of offering a kid that doesn't appear to have the tools to compete at a high level in a major Division I conference? I understand the practice of assembling "role players" but this team doesn't need anymore role players. I'm a tad frustrated with the direction of recruiting at this point. I don't think we will see another 4 star recruit (let alone 5 stars) sign with this program for a loooooong time. Bottom line, you need highly-regarded players to win college basketball games. And the Gophers don't feel the need to go after highly-regarded players. I think Minnesota will be fine next season with the gift of Mbakwe's 9th year of eligibility. But after that, I'm not really sure.

When a player evaluation starts with "Looks to be right in the middle of the mid-major plus category" it says a lot. The simple fact that people are arguing whether or not he is a legit high major prospect also says a lot. Potential incoming recruits should be bona-fide high-level Division I prospects, not big-time Division II or mid-major guys. C'mon Tubby!!!!

"Looks to be right in the middle of the mid-major plus category. Has plenty of MAC and Atlantic 10 interest, with several offers at the moment. Defensive specialist that plays hard, passionately, and with a high IQ who has the capabilities to become an offensive threat.

That scouting report may or may not be accurate, but who the hell is tripledoubleprospects? Has anyone heard of that site before? Also, how old is the evaluation? Maybe he's improved since then? He doesn't seem like a very exciting recruit to me either, but I haven't seen him play. I'm going to withhold judgement until I either see him play myself or read an up-to-date evaluation from a reputable scout. ESPN's is over a year old, so don't post theirs.

We were the first high major to offer does not mean we will be the last. He obviously isn't a MAC level player or else we wouldn't have offered neither would Wisconsin we need someone who
Can block shots.

But if Tubby offers too early, the kid is obviously not good enough to play at a high-major level. If Tubby waits for more analysis and other teams offer first, then Tubby & Co. are always last to the punch and are always waiting too long to offer.

Man...Tubby sucks. Why can't he get this stuff right?

A basketball scouting service in Ohio and Kentucky. They probably know more than ESPN/Rivals/Scout, because they specialize in that location.

Also, how old is the evaluation?

I don't know who these people are. For all I know they are great at what they do, but if they're not, then seeing him play more than ESPN/Rivals/Scout isn't going to help them write a more accurate scouting report than them. Either way, an evaluation from August 2011 is virtually meaningless to me.

I hope Taco Charlton becomes a Gopher. Can't lose with that name, plus the U likely could get a big advertising deal with either Taco John's or Taco Bell. Every time Taco scores 10 points or grabs 10 rebounds, ticket stub gets you a free taco.

Unless there is a different Taco Charlton, which would be incredibly odd, the Taco Charlton you are referring to is currently committed to Michigan to play defensive end. He's a big time football prospect and is ranked as the #8 weak-side DE in the country according to rivals.

I guess he's a dual kid who chose football over basketball, which sounds like the right choice based on his football ranking lol.

Looks more 6'6 to me...decent low D1 recruit or solid D2 player...cannot believe the gophers offered this guy!

@ho_chen More from Toledo local talent: Bowling Gren HS's Vitto Brown has recent hoops offers from ‪#Wisconsin‬, ‪#Minnesota‬, ‪#KState‬, Tennessee ‪#Vols‬!

Your right he completely sucks!
