Thank you to all who participated in this year's GopherHole Unscientific Survey. There were 174 respondents! (There was one other; however, it was not included since the only answer given in the demographic portion was his age.)

Previous years:

2009: 171 respondents.
2008: 179 " "
2007: 228 " "

The following are the results of this year's survey:

1) Age: The average age for this year's survey is 36.14 years.

2009: 36.42
2008: 34.16
2007: 37.55

2) Gender: 171 males and 3 females. (The gender question was not in the 2009 survey.)

3) The # of years as a Gopher fan (average): 25.66. (2009: 24.48 years)

4) Minnesota Native: Yes - 131 (75.28%) No - 43 (24.72%)
(2009: Yes- 131 (76.61%) No - 40 (23.39%))

5) Current Address:

Metro - 102 (58.64%)
Outstate - 21 (12.06%)
Other States - 48 (27.58%) See listings later

2010 is the first year in the running of the survey that there are more U respondents than other colleges. (2009: U of M - 72 (42.11%) Other Colleges: 75 (43.86%))

This is the most encouraging stat to me. As a 50-year old, I'm very happy that 64-67% of Gopherholers (that responded) are in the 21-40 age range. I expected it to be lower, but the use of the internet and "hip to it" ratio in that age group have something to do with that. Not to say that Rog Bettin isn't hip or into the internet, he's just old ;)
 

This is awesome - I can't imagine how cumbersome that is to accumulate all of that data, thanks so much, DL.

I remember being surprised at how educated our posters are (not that we all don't act like it after a bad loss, haha), and am the most impressed at that statistic.

I also like that there are so many Gopher fans that didn't go to the U. I feel that the following within the state is so much less than an Iowa or WI - but our board shows that many grew up as Gopher fans.

I would love to get more female posters on here too - there's only 3 of us? I don't think Moonlight responded, so that would make 4...hey, our odds are good though on the board, right? Haha.

Holy sausage fest! Only three women? Yikes, reminds me of the horrible parties at the engineering frat.
 



Two Others

GopherLady and Moonlight:

In reviewing last year's survey, I found two other ladies that didn't participate in this year's questionnaire. So, there are 6 females in the Moonlight amended survey. I suspect there are a few others, but if they don't participate in the survey it's difficult to estimate how many females are GopherHole members. I hope they'll sign up and complete next year's survey! Of course, I could say the same thing with the many lurkers and veteran posters that did not participate this year.

From my count it's ML, DC Gopherette, GopherFaith, Goldys Gal and me...who am I missing? There also could be women incognito, like ML was for her first year or two on here.

As GL said I'm sure that was a lot of work. Thanks from the bar or fire station, whichever I am/was.

After reading your survey response I feel confident that you may remember two now defunct Institutions.
1. The Resort Region Conference.
2. The Blackhawk in MHD. I minored in Blackhawk Studies.

Station 19,

I remember the Resort Region Conference! (DL, Moorhead, Alexandria, Fergus Falls, Breckenridge and Wheaton.)

I, too, remember the Black Hawk (it was one of my electives) as well as the Flame and few other places of study.

Looks like im the youngest poster (who filled out the survey), thats kinda cool.
