Lots of Good Comments I agree with...
You only gets 5...
1. EM31 is very very good
2. RS24 is going to be our #1 RB
3. Very surprised our stable of RFr WRs had zero catches and have all been passed by a true Fr
4. I no longer understand pass interference
5. Need our OL to get healthy
I wholeheartedly agree with each point.
5 More Thoughts:
1. Barnboy said: "Mitch's passes are hard to watch, but I think he gives us the best chance to win. I don't buy that a 3-star true freshman QB can
make the reads, manage the game, and not get flustered, no matter how creamy smooth his passes are in practice." And Rodney's Open responded:
"Mitch can't do any of those things either...
I mean all the other notes that people are making are great. Our receivers aren't great, but I think they have some promise. O- Line was banged up and running game took a while to get going.
With all that said, it's all about #7.
QB impacts too much of the game to be so incompetent. He seems like a nice guy and a hard worker, but he just can't be the QB of this team if it wants to take the next step. He impacts the running game, passing game, and the defense especially.
Unfortunately, I agree with Rodney. However, I'm not at practice or in conversation with the other quarterbacks to know if we have a better candidate or what the answer is. I'm somebody who puts a lot of emphasis on body language and show me. I wanted to believe Mitch had improved....but there are just way too many times I didn't like his decisions or his execution. I see too little evidence Mitch has the IT factor to get us a championship, beat Wisconsin, get a bowl win etc. Hopefully, somebody gets an opportunity at different points to wrestle the job from him and takes it away. I just don't think the ceiling is high enough with Mitch... I'd really prefer not to see the same struggles at the position for two more years. Brian Griese knows a lot about the quarterback position and basically said the same thing much of the game. I want Mitch to succeed because I want the Gophers to succeed but the quarterback play has to be better for us to continue to improve as a team. If Mitch is the guy I'm behind him. I do trust the coaches to figure it out...it's not like they don't see the same things.
2. Julian Huff was impressive. I think our linebackers are a strength not far behind our defensive backs. Our defense is the best for a long time.
3. Berkely Edwards and Jeff Jones still on the team?
4. Cashman and Hardin made plays.
5 We do have more playmakers...we just still need more....because so far we don't have a Maxx replacement, as a big time playmaker, at any position. But the promise is there that Rodney Smith could put himself in a David Cobb argument at some point to be a big time playmaker. And Rashad Still might become a wide receiver threat.
