In all seriousness, why are the Badgers so terrible? When Granato took over, I figured he would bring them back to competitive every night, but this is an absolute disaster. I’m probably in the minority, but having the Badgers be decent puts some juice into the rivalry. If I’m recalling correctly, they have one goal against the Gophers in the last three games. Always fun to crush them but more fun if they were competitive.

The talent is simply not there. I can’t think of a singe player on that team I would want on a gophers team. His job is in trouble after this season. I don’t see them firing him middle of the season yet, but if they continue to get swept in big ten play he’s gonna be gone.

Even in down years, the badgers often get up for this series and make at least one of the games competitive. Their top scorer, Cruz Lucius, was obviously a Gopher commit and should hear it from the student section. Unless I'm mistaken he was the youngest Gopher hockey commitment ever at 13 years old.

In the last decade or so, there have been some absolute maulings by the Gophers including the last series at Mariucci which was a 5-0 and 8-0 sweep.

I assume they are going to fire Granato after this season. What a disaster for them, as they thought he was going to be able to bring them back to relevance. That once proud Badger program has really fallen on hard times. Maybe Mark Johnson will come over from the woman's team...lol.

Yeah, Granato is a dead man walking. It's almost like they don't care about the men's hockey program any longer. Their woman's hockey and volleyball teams are their new secondary sport focus.

I get what you are saying as I love the intensity of an evenly matched gophers-badgers game, but seeing their players, coaches, and fans so dejected after yet another gopher ass whooping just warms my heart in the best way. I’ve had enough interaction with badger football fans that I don’t care if they suck at hockey for the rest of my life.
 

badgers are absolutely BRUTAL. The series against UND was totally different because they are at least decent at hockey. The series against SCSU will also be way more intense.

I enjoy destroying them, but the last two periods were not really intense at all because the game was already over.

Yeah, after the last football game, one of my Badger friends was reminding me that they are 23-5 vs us in football since 1995. I said yeah, but we've won 3 out of the last 5. Lol.

True, paper airplanes provided much of the third period amusment; but being bored by the Badgers is its own entertainment

Got it. Still not sure how they got so terrible. I thought Granato could coach and would bring them back. Just seems odd they are so bad. It smells like administration may be abandoning the program.
 

Refs gonna lose control of this game. Badgers are playing chippy after every whistle and nothing being called for it. I can count at least 4 times Cooley has been pitched of slashed after a whistle. Of course now they call a 5 and game as I am typing this.
 




I was about to stream the match and saw that Badgers were up 2-0 and then saw that Gophers had a 5 minute PP coming up and thought maybe if they get one back it might be a good game. Boy, was I wrong.

Is this the game that Badgers fans have been asking for all season, get beat so bad that Granato gets relieved of his duties.
 





Can the U please fix the pegs for the goals at Mariucci. They seem to come off so easily for opposing goal tenders.

It took them that long to gain a lead in the series for the first time...Ever! Again it's tied. Tell them to do the math and get back to you about leads,
