2026 Recruiting

Well, her dad was a first round choice out of Iowa. But, then again, none of Darrel Thompson’s kids ended up at Minnesota.
I'm more referring to the fact that the young lady said what she was thinking and didn't worry about being "PC" knowing she was talking to the hometown media.

I imagine her final two schools will be Minnesota and Iowa and Minnesota will be mentioned as a courtesy.

Just came across that article. I hope the gophers are in contact with her. 28 points a game as an 8th grader? Impressive to say the least.

Tori Oehrlein picked up an offer from Iowa State today.

Tori has picked up offers from Wisconsin and South Dakota.

Nakia Ollivierre

2026 Iowa guard Nakia Ollivierre has been attracting attention and accolades. Has been hosted by teams like North Carolina and North Carolina State. Probably projects to shooting guard.

The track star holds state records.

Also with this class I need to say my opinion on Greenway. She is 50 maybe up to 80% skill but a lot of hype as well. Her dad is pushy in the aau world from what I’ve heard. However I acknowledge she is really good, but I believe the state has other as good to offer. Providence academy plays with very good posts, and without the Count sisters Greenway may not look as good. So I still want the Gophers to recruit her, but please do not put all eggs in her basket.

FIRST TEAM

  • Kate Amelotte – forward, North Tartan Nike (Providence Academy)
  • Maddyn Greenway – guard, North Tartan 2025 Nike (Wayzata)
  • Tori Oehrlein – guard, Minnesota Suns 2024 Blue Star (Crosby-Ironton)
  • Abbie Pietila – guard, Minnesota Fury Blue (Delano)
  • Dalia Thornton-Fay – guard, Minnesota Stars Nilsen (Roseville)
SECOND TEAM

  • Maddie Blaylark – guard, Minnesota Stars Hill (DeLaSalle)
  • Kate Holmquist – guard, North Tartan Nike (Maple Grove)
  • Morgan Korf – guard, Inspired Athletics (Pelican Rapids)
  • Brooklyn Lewis – guard, Minnesota Rise (New Ulm)
  • Callie Oakland – forward, Minnesota Fury Blue (St. Croix Lutheran)
THIRD TEAM

  • Brynn Liebfried – forward, Metro Stars (Orono)
  • Brylee Miller – guard, Minnesota Rise (Fairmont)
  • Mya Moore – guard, North Tartan Nike (Orono)
  • Audrey Schmidtke – guard, Crossfire Schmitdke (Lakeville South)
  • Audrey Shindelar – guard, Southern Minnesota Fury (Stewartville)

Someone posted the 2025 top summer teams, so I thought I’d put them here. I also noticed Greenways school being Wayzata.

I am thinking that could be a typo for Greenway. She is still listed as being at Providence in her profile at Prep Girls Hoops and on her Twitter profile.

I think Kate Amelotte is Wayzata and Maddyn Greenway is Providence Academy. They were flipped.

FWIW on an late August Friday:

From this morning's Power Trip

Cory Cove: Is there a chance you might have a daughter playing basketball for the Gophers?
Chad Greenway: Is this a recruiting pitch? Show me the NIL deal-then we'll talk....there's a chance, there's a chance.

FWIW I want Greenway to commit somewhere else so she doesn’t waste time and energy.

Another post talks about culture. Saying stuff like that does not help culture.

She is good. She is not Paige Bueckers good. I wouldn’t even say Mara Braun good because she doesn’t have the height. You could compare her to Borowicz when it comes to height. I think Borowicz is better. The Count sisters do not get enough credit for providence Academy’s success. Now could she go to a rival school and eat the gophers for lunch. Yep. I’ve just heard that Dad is a lot in the aau circuit and then saying stuff like this makes me very ok if she chooses another school.

Whoever said her Dad is a lot is incorrect. Her family is always positive and cheering for the team wether it be a providence or north tartan games. Maddyn and her family are great people to talk to you really understand how sports work and the Gophers would be lucky to get a player of Maddyn even considering them.

Players from the 2026 class that have posted about being on unofficial visits yesterday and at the football game:

Jayci Rath - 6-1 SF from Stewartville and MN Fury
Sinae Hill - 5-10 guard from Minneapolis SW (moving to Minnehaha Academy?) and MN Stars ( and niece of Tayler)
Dalia Thornton-Fay - 5-7 guard from Roseville and MN Stars

And from the class of 2027:
Ava Cupito - 5-8 guard from Minnehaha Academy and Metro Stars
Amisha Ramlall - 5'8 Wing, Rosemount HS and MN Fury
Olivia LeBlanc - Hudson and MN Fury
Pressley Watkins - 5-10 Guard, Orono and 43 Hoops

Either could become the youngest player in state history to surpass 2,000 career points. They are separated by only four points in career scoring — Oehrlein has 1,830 points in 67 games, Greenway 1,826 points in 75 games.
For those who don't subscribe to the startribune here is a break down of their scoring career.
The points pace

Rebekah Dahlman of Braham holds the state scoring record of 5,065 points, achieved in 188 games. She crossed 1,000 points in her 61st game and 2,000 points in her 97th game. A look at the two ninth-graders making a run at her:

Maddyn Greenway, Providence Academy

Seventh grade: 504 points in 24 games, 21.0 ppg

Eighth grade: 783 points in 33 games, 23.7 ppg

Ninth grade: 539 in 18 games, 29.9 ppg

1,000th point: 46th game

Tori Oehrlein, Crosby-Ironton

Seventh grade: 456 points in 21 games, 21.7 ppg

Eighth grade: 826 points in 28 games, 29.5 ppg

Ninth grade: 548 in 18 games, 30.4 ppg

1,000th point: 40th game

I finally had a chance to see Tori Oehrlein play in person this weekend in Texas. She is a really impressive player, performs at a high level with much less help from her teammates than some other 2026 players get. She'd be a great representative for the Gophers.

Looking at her profile, she plays for an EYBL team. Therefore, Coach P probably saw her at Boo this past weekend. Maybe they had a previous connection, maybe not. But it is very nice having coaches that don’t only recruit regional girls. Bringing in talent from around the country is a good thing. It can really help build our team.

Interesting offer to Vukosa. Is there a Minnesota or coaching staff connection to Vukosa?
She is one of the top players in the country in her class. She also picked up offers from UConn and South Carolina (among others) this week and has a lot of offers overall. She had an offer from the Gopher staff when they were at West Virginia.

Agreed, but battling for Vokusa is really jumping in to the deep end of the recruiting pool. An NYC kid who may be the most heavily recruited post in the ‘26 class.
