Being from the Iron Range and a big fan of Cherry, I was glad to see they drew a team without size in JWP in the first game. Isaac Asuma's brother Noah is listed at 6-2, but probably 200lbs, and their cousin Isiah may also be 6-1, are putting up 50-60 ppg together. But they have no size. They lost the athletic 6-3 Noah Sundquist to graduation, and they had trouble with size last year.

Alexandria has a tough draw with Maple Grove. Alex has little size, and Maple Grove is one of the biggest teams in 4A.

Are any of today's games on TV or just streaming?

Number 1 Tartan cruises to 72-44 win over #8 Blaine
Number 5 Chaska by 18 over #4 Lakeville South
Number 7 Apple Valley take down #2 Wayzata 75-73

I watched the last 15 minutes of the AV win, a massive upset. Christian Wiggins was blocked at the rim at the buzzer to tie the game. Future Gopher Nolen Anderson struggled in all aspects, I think he was 1/10 from 3.

This clears the way for Maple Grove to win it all.

Go Gophers!!

Albany and Jackson County will be a fun battle.
Jackson County cleaned up on a very good Montevideo team and then beat Morris who probably would have been the clear #2 in the tourney behind goodhue.

Albany back with a new coach and 4 new starters from last seasons undefeated season.

Not sleeping on them, but MG had a key starter out that game. If they play in the finals it will be a good game, but I'd say MG by 6.

Max Iverson. He's one of the best scorers in the state and a steal for NDSU.

His Dad played football for the Gophers (Ryan) before transferring to play basketball at Delaware. He was a key free agent signing this offseason from Delano.

Came across this on Ryan James twitter after the Apple Valley upset. 1992 was a few years before I really paid attention to HS basketball. What was the deal with Pacelli that year? Did they play worse than they should have in the regular season or just play out of their minds in the postseason? Seems like an incredible run for them. Any other big upsets in the past you can think of?

I could be making this up...but I think Pacelli either had a really good player who was injured to start the year or players who somehow were not eligible earlier in the year.

Albany 85-49 . Was surprised to see that score this morning. Especially for a 4 v 5 matchup

#1 Totino Grace cruises to 90-56 win over #8 Mpls. South

One of De La Salle’s best all time squads.

Including freshman Robert Mestas (won Mr bball at Roosevelt). And Adrian Patterson (led Washburn to 94 title).

Austin Shot lights out and De Shot uncharacteristically bad. Austin Grabbed a huge halftime lead. Then just held on; it helped that De’s best player (Darren Dearing) fouled out with bunch of time left.

De crushed em in 2nd half, but Austin did enough. I recall it felt De inevitably was going to come back, but just did not reach the goal line. While they beat then athletically, and in all aesthetic aspects, Austin, played incredible team ball. Got it done, and didn’t let themselves to get beat mentally.
