2026 Boys State Tournament

The fields are being finalized tonight for the state tournament, which will be in two weeks. The MSHSL had to make the change in case the Women hosted the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament.

We seem to always have a snowstorm during the boy's HS tourney - this year we outmaneuvered Mother Nature....

.... This move means the tourney is scheduled immediately after instead of before most of the school's spring breaks. I wonder how many families with players in the tournament have some sort of spring break vacation (e.g., ski trip out west, Disney in Florida) planned? Do you still take the vacation, or stay in town and practice?

Spring sport you take a week off and go on spring break if your family is privileged enough to do so. If you are on a basketball team in sections or state, you take a vacation at another time if your family is privileged enough to do so.

I think this week or the week leading up to Easter are the two most popular spring break weeks this year.

With a state tournament almost every weekend, and now an NCAA on the vacated weekend, it's hard to miss a March storm that occurs during a tournament.

It's a private Christian Classical Academy. It uses the classical education theory of trivium. The first four years are memorization of information and study of Latin. The second four years are building structure around what you have memorized. The last four years are researching your own understanding and building your argument for what you have come to understand. It's the process that our founding fathers went through to make their arguments. It's a shame this method of education was jettisoned for Dewey's method of finding workers for the assembly line.

All that to say they're a Christian school.

Tartan doesn’t have a ton of size, but I wouldn’t count them out. They are undefeated and have wins at Hopkins and Maple Grove!
 

Now 3A is going to be Totino, unless Delasalle can pull the upset.
 

Holy sht! Justin Gaaaaard has take. Dave Lee’s role in calling the high school bball games. What a run Dave had of 0 prep and actual in game trash calls. So long bread boy.
 

Seeding will be released on Tuesday late afternoon/evening.

Anyone know if Ann of Maple Grove is out? I watched some highlights of Maple Groves' win over Osseo on Fresh coast hoops and he wasn't on the floor.

That's true, but legend of the tournament snowstorm was built on the boys basketball tournament, even though it was a bit exaggerated. With all the tournaments now, it has lost all meaning.
