2025 Transfer Portal Watch

Mychal was the man but don’t forget Andy Thompson
One of my first games at Williams the Gophers ran a play off the opening tip which resulted in a dunk for Andy. Unfortunately the refs called him for traveling. Doubt that call would be made in today’s game, That’s my Andy Thompson memory.

Wow, it's been quiet. I'm starting to get the feeling there won't be much else added as far as guys that will be getting minutes next season.

I just keep thinking what our season would look like if Nehemiah Turner goes down w/injury. At that point we'd have to be active in the trade deadline. Dang, couldn't do that either.. Playing the Big Ten schedule without the rotational big dude in the middle wouldn't be optimal.

I think you’d see JCJ (6'8" 230) play some center when Vaihola was not in the lineup. Durkin and Omot still have decent size for wings. Only other options on the roster at that point are Grove (6'9" 220?) and Reader (6'8" 215?).

It's gonna be a hard sell to a post of any quality "hey you prob won't play much unless someone gets hurt" which is why it might be nice to swing on a HS recruit. I mentioned it in another thread but Niko specifically mentioned how posts were really expensive and they were choosing to allot more money to other positions where he though there was more bang for your buck.

To bad Mitchell didn't stick around but I understand why he didn't, I'm sure he wanted to start in his last year of college ball.

Guessing it might be fairly quiet between now and the draft. Not positive on the deadline date for pulling your name out of the draft but once that passes then I would think teams would move to sign the remaining players they want.

But, I do not think the NBA Draft effects the Gophers. Any of those guys are going to bid after by the big spenders. IDK maybe there are some fringe guys but my guess is many of that group have already said they are returning to college...it's an easy decision to return...they make more than they would in Europe if they are acclaimed at all.

Hopefully, we got some impactful guy hiding out. But, with practice and summer school in June there is not much more time than a 10 days window to ok maybe two weeks?

The lost freshmen recruits would seem like a pretty good idea right now?
