2025 Transfer Portal Watch

He's an incredibly skilled big, you're being ridiculous. If he wanted to come back he's a take 100 time out of 10.
Physical yes, "Ridiculously" skilled maybe not so much.

Can't shoot away from the basket. Didn't see a lot of post moves. Can't shoot FT. IMO, there are better options in the portal than Payne for the Medved offense.

Payne is very athletic with quick hops. He can rebound and power his way to baskets. Skilled? I guess that depends on the skill we are specifically talking about. Three point shooting, dribbling, mid-range shooting? Not so skilled. Rebounding, defending, passing? Yes, he has some skills. Possessing all these skills? No. Like so many of Ben Johnson's recruits, he isn't multi-dimensional. That is why Pharyll came off the bench at A&M.
Would I be happy to see Pharyll playing for the Gophers again? Yes. What he can do is something we can use.
I like PP, good college player would take him back. But, for the record, he's a horrific passer. This year 15 assists ALL SEASON and 43 turnovers. 0.9 per 40 minutes. 5% assist rate. You almost have to try to be that bad.

Again, good college player. That means you have holes in your game, good coaches can minimize those and highlight your good assets. I think Buzz did that fairly well but let's not pretend he's some unstoppable monster. I'd take Heide is an instant over PP. I value a well rounded player. If you have a PP you have to build around him properly.

Heide average 4.7 pts/ 3.6 boards and .4 assists in 19.7 minutes per game (.8 assists per 40 minutes). I would take either one, of course, but Payne is by far and away the more valuable asset. It's not even close.

Payne 10.4/5.1 and .4 in 20.1 minutes - just for reference

It's not hard to look up stats. He shot almost 60% free throws (improvement over last year)
65% from the floor
58% FT
Offensive Rebounds up
More shots per game
More FT per game
Fouls down
Fewer minutes
Might not be hard to look up stats but it is even easier to just be a prick to people...that takes almost zero effort for some of the posters here :)

This has been a fun 24 hours and chaos in GH never ceases to amaze. Three new players! I would call that productive. Right now, having 5, Niko can now concentrate on quality. The first five mean we can field a team. We have enough to cover the floor. That is the completion of stage one. Stage two is finding the best possible players to fit the team. I'm loving it. I'm popping corn for the long haul. What will tomorrow bring?

Who was I being the prick to? I was simply supporting a player that people seem to be ripping with some facts. I also said in a post that I don’t think he fits here and likely doesn’t want to be here.

So bitter, Niko would take him in a heart beat, pretty much any team in the NCAA would.

We would take him take him back, but the evaluations of his limitations are not incorrect. There's a reason he's never been a full time starter during his first 3 years.

Payne is basically an undersized center from the 90s.

Interesting on the DNC. Could mean I'm checking my value with schools/coaches I have interest in and if they can't beat Purdue he stays.

Lots of players are being fired, parting ways, or not meeting their value.
What does “not meeting their value” mean? Sounds like not getting the offers they want.

We have two new players. Kai was already committed, so not a new player.
But, yes nice to see some players coming in that have some potential.

In another thread, I think I used the word reaffirmation about Kai. Oops. I didn't repeat myself.
