2025 Transfer Portal Watch

As of this moment, I am seeing only 4 players who have transferred to any Big Ten school. Iowa seems to be winning the race with 2 of the 4 transfers. UCLA and Ohio State each have 1 transfer commitment. 7 days in and not much movement across the board.
Iowa may be winning the signing race but I am guessing the Iowa fans still feel like they are losing when Freeman is going to Creighton and Dix is in the portal

Yea, I got your meaning. With only 8 schools left, most of the schools have only a handful of scholarships available, if we still call it a scholarship these days. Either way, are 150 players going to fit into the 240 total roster spots for those 16 teams? Let's say each takes 4 players. That takes up 64 players out of 150 (a mythical number) and leaves 86 up for grabs if the best players skewed towards those 16 "top" schools. Minnesota alone needs at least 9 of those remaining players. I guarantee that all the other schools will prevent Minnesota from getting our fair share of the top talent. I think we would be extremely fortunate to pick up 6 transfers. Does anyone here have the actual number of available players currently?
Not sure what your point is here and I wasn’t trying to start an argument. I was simply trying to offer an explanation to your post about the lack of action. Hopefully the dominoes start to fall soon (preferably in our favor).

Staggering. I can breathe. How far down the list are we shooting for in your opinion?
My opinion would be be shooting for landing at least a top 50 guy and a top 100 guy. I assume Ky Evans will be top 50 after the tournament he had. Guys like Jorgensen and Omot would be guys out of the top 100 that could be helpful and we'd have a legit shot with.

Fwiw UND Treyson Eaglestaff (#26 247 sports) visiting South Carolina this wknd. Says he is going to go thru the pre NBA draft process before picking a school.

SDSU Oscar Cluff (#20 247) will be at Purdue Sunday and Iowa State Tuesday.

Christoph Tilly - this would seem like an interesting 7 foot center that shoots 30% from 3PT land. Seems like zoom calls were set for Illinois and Ohio State.

I just checked out Ky Evans' ranking on 247, and he's #4 overall. I didn't think he'd be that high, CNM better better have a strong ass offer waiting

I happen to stumble on this online regarding Niko's father Miro Medved. He seems like an interesting guy with unique ties to Slovenia from a business perspective. Here is a short profile: https://www.sloveniaconsulatemn.org...ber, 2012 the Republic,United States at age 7.

I saw this one piece of the profile - "Upon Slovenia’s independence in 1991, Miro Medved assisted a number of companies in Slovenia to bring products to the US and helped Slovenian companies to obtain Exclusive right for US products. Mr. Medved continues to maintain a strong relationship with the business community in Slovenia." I know Doogie on KSTP said he wasn't aware of Niko having any access to unique lines of funding. However, you never know where unique lines on NIL funding may come from. Perhaps there are some very grateful Slovenian business associates of Miro for all the work he's done that might be willing to invest in a very successful Slovenian boy who just received a higher profile job in a conference like the B1G. As we know, all bets are off in the NIL world of money these days.

Wow. #4. That might not be good for us. If he is thought of that highly we might need to compete with the big boys for his services. Hope our pockets are deep enuf.

He's not #4, they haven't even ranked him yet. You're seeing that he's the 4th most recent entry to the portal that they've added to their database.

Wonder if he has connections with any college age male relatives of Luka Doncic.

Listen to this man, he knows what he's talking about! (With reference to how 247 transfer portal recruiting ratings operate at least 👍)

Any guesses where we might see Evans ranked? I was predicting top 50...

Payne made it very clear he's after 1 thing, money. He's never coming back here. Not that I wouldn't take him per se, but he also doesn't fit Niko's game plan at all. Can't shoot, can't dribble, can't make FT.
He’ll follow God’$ plan

As opposed to our dire situation? I think they are smiling in Iowa.

Wow. I didn't think I was arguing. What was the argument?

I hope we see exactly this scenario play out.

Niko has his work cut out for sure. How to do sell recruits to come here when we have three players and have been awful for years? It’s not going to be easy. Got to get that first one!

Medved killin' it up in here.
It's gonna be a long spring if we do this for every transfer we don't get since there are already 1,100 of them in the portal and the list will most likely get longer until the portal ends. Heck, we might as well start doing this when a 5⭐ signs other places as well.

If it's any consolation for you, Kansas, Kentucky, and Gonzaga boards are probably more upset because they had what I would consider a more legit chance at getting him

He’s not selling disastrous past. He’s selling himself, his history and his vision. Much easier sell than our recent woes.

South Carolina just got a good one with a 12-20 record; 2-16 in conference.

They have pretty terrible history. One yr recently that was good, but not great.

Not a whole lot of promise for the future. We’ll see whom they can retain.

Bummer but looks like the kid basically had his pick of any school he wanted so was always going to be a massive longshot for us to get him.
Poor Niko.

Took a week for vcguy to break this out. LOL
