Section 1AA got even more brutal!

Caledonia
Chatfield
Lourdes
Triton
St. Charles
Dover-Eyota
Rushford-Peterson

Wow... How many state titles the last 20 years combined there??
Did some quick math. These teams in the last 19 seasons(no 2020, due to COVID) accounted for 18 state football titles and 6 runners up.

Bold: I'd prefer they scrap sections and take the top XX teams from the state, 1 guaranteed bid for each "geographic region" and then the top ranked X teams after that.

Seed the bracket, and play it as the state bracket. That's it

May never happen, but would be great to never have such a concept as sections again.
Bold may have been the 2nd, 3rd or maybe even the 4th best team in class A last year. But in reality they had 2 chances to best Minneota and lost by an average of 17 points...

However it would be interesting to see a 16 team format seeding at the section championship round and see that shake out. The 4 teams that played in the semis in 1A were all very good

Rocori probably really happy to not play Becker to get to state.
I had heard (rumor) Dwight had lobbied to be in the same section and then regretted the decision. Could be true since rocori knocked out Becker in 23 when they were number one in 4a, but Becker would go on to win it all the next year

Might be a good compromise in classes 9 man to 5a that does a good thing but doesn’t substantially impact travel for many teams (8 teams in each class would have one extra long road trip)

"Could" not necessarily would. I don't think many teams care at that point how far the travel is. The state doesn't care either, especially in 1A look at the quarterfinals round travel for the north teams, I belive they all made 2-4 hour trips

Yup.
Would be awesome if they took final 16
Had all the 1s seeded 1-8
Had all the 2s seeded 9-16
Maybe by QRF because there isn’t much crossover?

Having grown up in Stewartville, definitely had a lot of battles with almost all of these programs!

Something isn't adding up.
I went back to the year 2000 quickly. Imagine I made a mistake somewhere because the original post was 6 runner-ups.

Champions:
2000 - Triton AA
2002 - Rushford-Peterson A
2004 - Rushford-Peterson A
2006 - Rushford-Peterson A, Caledonia AA
2007 - Caledonia AA
2008 - Caledonia A
2010 - Caledonia AA, Rochester Lourdes AAA
2011 - Caledonia AA
2012 - Caledonia AA
2013 - Chatfield AA
2014 - Rochester Lourdes AAA
2015 - Caledonia AA
2016 - Caledonia AA, Rochester Lourdes AAA
2017 - Caledonia AA
2018 - Caledonia AA, Rochester Lourdes AAA
2019 - Caledonia AA
2021 - Caledonia AA

Runner-Up
2005 - Caledonia AA
2010 - Triton AA
2012 - Rochester Lourdes AAA
2015 - Rushford-Peterson A
2022 - Chatfield 2022

All 7 of these teams would have at least a decent shot of coming out of Section 2AA. 4 or 5 of them would most likely win it without even being close. I get that sections are created by geography but some competitive balance consideration would be good. I'd also add that I'm a little bit surprised that Rochester Lourdes didn't opt to stay put in section 1AAA with Stewartville moving up. Section 1AA looks to be much tougher to navigate.

I knew Caledonia was good but that dominance is insane.

To answer the post you responded to yep, I counted their titles and 2nds from A and AAA. And I might have made the mistake on Runner-ups. I just did it real quick.

Teams are starting to push out

Lakeville North plays a crossover week #1 with Blaine.

According to Strib, Apple Valley is in 6A after all and Coon Rapids is in 5A. And according to MSHSL website Apple Valley is in 5A for football in 2025, so I don't know what to believe.

Strib is wrong

6a schedules are out. I have them all. But don’t want to write it all down 😂

5 relief schools;
Coon rapids
Hopkins
Eastview
Park cottage grove
Roseville

3 teams have two of them on their schedule
Woodbury
White Bear lake
East ridge

If you have other specific questions let me know but that’s what interested me

Luckily AAAAAA schools can already start building schedules and gobbling up all the officials. 9-man through AAAAA haven't even been placed into districts yet. Could be another month before that happens. Probably won't find out schedules until after school is out!

Yup.
The only benefit of 6a schools being unable to play 5a schools Is they get the schedule first

Officials don’t get scheduled on games until July. 6A goes through associations and does not directly get their officials.

Could be. I have friends who live in Owatonna and send their kids to Medford. Plus Faribault has BA and to a lesser extent, SSM.
BA just went down to 9 player in football. I am not sure why they don't co-op with Faribault HS like they do in other sports. I would make perfect sense as far as numbers go.
