2025-26 Gopher Mens Basketball Roster

And now in the Rand podcast that Bleed posted...Niko said we have another guy coming....we just can't announce him yet. So wherever the post is that said we had a guy coming...Niko confirmed it....we just don't know who.
What would be the reason where a guy commits but you can’t announce it yet? Not in the portal? Waiting to see if he gets eligibility granted?

In the interview he said a couple different times that pretty much all players have agents now.
My complete guess is it has something to do with the agents wishes.

Just a guess but it could be a foreign player waiting for a student visa, government clearance, UM to accept his transcript, etc.

Sooo...bigger question...is this the player (Chance Stephens) to be named or is he somebody different who just snuck in between the announcemrnt of the anticipated mystery arrival??

I'm assuming the mystery recruit is someone else.

Is Tomes one of the 2?

Tomes is a class of 2026 recruit so I would say probably not.

If I'm counting correctly, we should be at 11 scholarship players for next year now so I'd guess there will be at least one more. Maybe the remaining scholarships will go to local walk-on types. Hell, Wisconsin had a walk-on from White Bear Lake (Jack Janicki) who played 421 minutes this past season.

Is Wisconsin going to raffle off their last two spots in a special drawing in Lakeville?

Could be the same reason that I wouldn't tell anyone in high school the name of my Canadian model girlfriend?

Cade Tyson commits June 1st
roster in post 1 updated

Since Tyson signed on June 1st with the Gophers...for all 350+ teams 247 lists 3 guys signing to date. Yet there are supposedly a couple thousand guys without teams. At one point 3700 plus guys entered the portal.
Is this teams waiting on the rules...house settlement money, roster number clarification? or what?
Is it everybody is out of NIL money?
Seems like a crazy amount of guys in limbo.

Now that we have a full roster, who are the starters on this team?

I just haven't followed this as closely the last couple years with all the portal madness.

That's a tough one- you might be able to put 8-9 guys into that discussion.

Starters ---close behind in minutes
Asuma
Willis ----- Reynolds
Durkin----- Tyson
Cr.Johnson-- Omot
Vaihola----- Turner

To me Reynolds and Turner are the most intriguing players- guys with upside that could lift us a notch due to size and athleticism

Where's Erick Reader on the roster?

should be some really good battles in camp leading up to the season.
Willis, Durkin, and Johnson are all locks at starters i think.

agree with you on Turner.....how good is he going to be? intriguing guy for sure

where does Omot fit in with all this?
can Durkin and Tyson hold their own defensively to be on the court at the same time for extended periods?
who wins that Asuma/Reynolds battle?

looking at stats Nico comfortably plays 9 guys going back a lot of years.

Don't forget and they might just take a Chance on a guy returning from an injury.

It seems like Asuma could play point or 2 guard, while I would think Reynolds is a 2/3 guy. Not having seen them, I am guessing it is Wills/ Asuma/ Reynolds for most of the minutes at the 1/2 slots. Chance Stephens being the wild card there. 80 minutes for the 4 and we have to see who can do what.

I like Asuma, Reynolds, Durkin and Tyson if they go small and Johnson. If they need more size they go with either Durkin or Tyson and Vaihola. Of course not having seen most of them play it's like playing darts blind folded. In any case lots of substitutions.
