Very interested to see how that Eagan/North game goes next week. Won't be surprised if Eagan finds a way to get the W.

Rosemount and Rochester Mayo are playing at 3:30 today since the friggin lightning wouldn't go away in Rochester last night.

on a completely different note. news has broken that Mt Lake Area Head football coach Tim Kirk is dealing with a very serious health situation. the prognosis - based on what I have been told - is not very hopeful. Kirk is trying to coach out the current season. I've know Tim for almost 25 years. a really good dude. this just sucks. it absolutely sucks. Mt Lake Area is off to a 3-0 start. root for the Wolverines this season, and say a prayer for Tim Kirk and his family.

The boy didn't want to go to the Wayzata homecoming game. I was okay, because I was cool with having a fire on the patio on a nice evening and not dealing with crowds. Seemed like a good decision, since they've given up 48 to Edina so far. Wayzata is not a good team this year.

I’m seeing the final as JCC 61 - 14 LH, maybe running clock in the second half
Yeah and JCC pulled starters and completely changed their play calls by the 2nd quarter to not run up the score further.

I’m seeing the final as JCC 61 - 14 LH, maybe running clock in the second half

according to Twitter the 3rd quarter - by unanimous consent - was 3 minutes long. then running time for a 12-minute 4th quarter.

meanwhile I was watching a wacky game. Windom beat TMB 54-42. game just got done at about 9:55 or so.

JCC will have a couple more of these yet this season.

Good for Windom?. What's their record? TMB isn't a slouch.

Good for Windom?. What's their record? TMB isn't a slouch.
Windom is 2-2 with one loss in OT. TMB's QB is an athlete - really good basketball player. basically, neither team could stop the other. Windom came up with an INT and a fumble recovery on defense, and that gave them the margin they needed.

Friday night my alma mater plays at the school I pay my property taxes to:

Highland Park at Two Rivers.

Two Rivers is 12-2 since the beginning of last year. A large part of that is the new co-head coach, and their juniors and seniors being by far the two best classes the school has had in a long time; no one can tell just how good they are as this two-year cycle has them playing a district schedule that includes five games against Mpls or St. Paul schools. I'll be shocked if they lose during the regular season, and they potentially have a chance against St. Thomas in section play this year.

Dang, I coached vs Tim for a few years.
Great guy. His son was a heck of a player for them as well.

Is there a caring bridge or anything?

Maybe. That section interesting. Nobody plays each other so some games are huge.
Two rivers beat hastings
Hastings beat Jefferson
Two rivers probably earned themselves the two seed with those two results.

If Jefferson had beaten Hastings, I think the best seed they would’ve gotten was 4. Because SOS arguments will overpower their record.

Will be interesting to see how seeding works out but would guess it’ll end up:
1) st Thomas
2) two rivers
3) Hastings
4) Jefferson vs valley loser
5) jefferson vs valley loser
6) Kennedy

If Jefferson had beaten Hastings it would’ve ended up:
1) STA
2) Jefferson vs valley winner
3) Jefferson vs valley loser
4) two rivers (even if unbeaten)
5) Hastings
6) Kennedy

Really interested to see what happens when Eagan and Lakeville North play on Friday. North is a very beatable #1.

On a side note, kind of crazy to see Lakeville South and Rosemount sitting at the halfway point with 1-3 records.

There appear to be several 6A teams that have a legit shot to win it this year. The winner of this week's Shakopee-Minnetonka game should be considered the mid-season favorite IMO.

Definitely doesn't feel like there is a dominant team in 6A. Some good teams but no great ones.

People always assume parity means a decline in overall quality. Not saying it is the case right now, but it's possible there are several great teams.

The section I don’t know if it has any state title contenders. But teams 1-6 (south, north, rosemount, Eagan, farmington, Mayo) are all top 15-18 teams to me.

I agree with that generally but 6a football is not very good right now.
There are teams that were .500 in 2018 that would win the state title going away this year, in my opinion.

Teams don’t have any depth anymore. So many guys going both ways. Injuries wreck teams, the wrong two guys get injured and you’re down 4 starters. Teams from 6-10 years ago would simply wear down most teams now.

Good point on the depth. Football, even in 6A, doesn't have the numbers it used to.

IMO, I don't see the Champion outside of these schools. Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Edina.

Maybe, but the team I am close to is Rosemount and this is not a very good Rosemount team compared to previous years and yet they were right there with North who is supposedly the #1 team according to the rankings.
