2024-25 Gopher Hockey Season

First time back to Mariucci for me since a 2022 beat down 8-0 over Wisconsin, felt good to see the team in person. They looked sluggish in the 2nd to the 3rd, but maybe because they were just bored 🤷‍♂️

Watching the WJC it's clear.

If BC wins the title it will be because of absolutely incredible talent
If MSU wins the title it will be because of Augustine
If UMN wins the title it will be because of four basically even lines rolling
If DU wins the title it will be because of Buium and knowing what it takes to win one

Finns looking way better than team USA.
As I was trying to go back and forth with this game and the Vikings debacle, it seemed to me that once the play went into OT, the US had many more chances. Maybe this should not be surprising as individual performances can shine much more on 3-on-3 OT than 5-on-5 team regulation play. Too bad the OT has to be settled in this way.

This upcoming series warrants a bigger write up later this week, but it should be a couple good games at OSU.

They are another Transfer Portal team. Five of their top six in points per game are transfers as well as one of the two goalies that rotate starts.

Remember how stupid it was that the Big Ten awarded the 2020-21 regular season title based on win percentage instead of point percentage which gave uw the title instead of the Gophers? It treated OT wins the same as regulation wins which is the main reason to implement the three point system... Anyways, still annoying.
