And as one of the last 4 in.ESPN's bracketology updated on 9/18 has the Gophers making the tournament as an 11 seed.
Dawn P did it before as a 10 seed. Might have to do something similar to reach the Sweet 16. With a soft non-con schedule, and brutal conference road slate, it will take a helluva year to get off the 7-10 seed lines. And if they end up on the 11 line, might have to win 3 games to get to the Sweet 16.A healthy team=A tournament team.
I’m predicting a Sweet 16 this year. I believe the talent is there.
Once you look at the conference portion of the schedule it really drives home how big the conference is with the only home and away being WISC, but also the quality of opponents.Gophers women's basketball's 18-game Big Ten slate revealed

Not a real surprise given the conference additions.
Beating K-State is a really good sign.
I can confirm it did happen, and (the exact scores are unknown at this time) it sounds like the Gophers' combination of speed, shooting, versatility, and depth wore them down and the victory was by double-digits. K-State tired as the game went on.Interesting, wonder if at Mpls or K-State?
And where are the leaked tidbits and impressions? When the men's NCAA teams scrimmage there are usually some leaks and impressions floating around.
That’s music to my ears!I can confirm it did happen, ands (the exact scores are unknown at this time). It sounds like the Gophers' combination of speed, shooting, versatility, and depth the victory was by double digit wore down K-State as the game went on.
Love the report, which I find mildly surprising, given how good K-State is/should be. Wish the Gophers would play a non-conference game like this for real this season. Kansas State could be 75+ spots higher in the NET than any team the Gophers will face for real in the non-conference season (although Montana or Oregon State could surprise and help the Gophers' non-con strength of schedule).I can confirm it did happen, ands (the exact scores are unknown at this time). One of the earlier comments mentioned tiring K-State out, which might indicate the ability to control the tempo of the game. Often, controlling the tempo is directly connected to how well you play defense, which allows you to play as quickly or slowly as you choose during the course of a game. Hopefully, our team's defense is on track to be really good this year.K State is 13th in preseason polling and REAL tall. Not reading too much into this but there's room for hope
Can't forget about Rose; heard she is extremely quickI think this team's strength is its ability to bring Holloway, Woodson, Johnson, Stewart, and Mckinney in off the bench and provide different looks and changes of pace.
They can play both slower in the halfcourt or try and play up-tempo and force turnovers into quick buckets the other way.
Hmm. If the score was really in the 80's, I guess there is still plenty of defensive work to do. Obviously, K-State is projected to be really good, but I'm thinking that Dawn P's defensive goal is to be able to keep teams somewhere in the 60's for most of their games.x.com

I don't look into these secret scrimmages much; we have no idea what lineups were being used etc... good to see it was very close, but we also don't know how the game was actually played. Regardless, excited for this team and season!Hmm. If the score was really in the 80's, I guess there is still plenty of defensive work to do. What's really fun and educational is those rare times that you get to sit in on the coaches/players film sessions on these things. At least they're rare for me, (once or twice in my life) but man you sure get an idea of what a coach is looking for and what it's supposed to look like on the field/court. I do get to work with a coach who shows me football game film a couple of times a season and breaks it down. It's amazing the stuff we miss when we're watching in real time live or on TV!I don't look into these secret scrimmages much; we have no idea what lineups were being used etc... good to see it was very close, but we also don't know how the game was actually played. 80s for double overtime is not that highHmm. If the score was really in the 80's, I guess there is still plenty of defensive work to do. Did not know that it went into double-overtime. Agreed, that's not an outlandish score for 2 OT.80s for double overtime is not that high
