Dear GopherHole Community,

It's hard to believe that an entire year has passed. The world of Gopher sports has seen ups and downs over the past year and in both football and basketball, but one thing is certain, misery and victory love company. And that is in large part why GopherHole continues to grow. In 2010, we have surged passed our previous high numbers and our growing community gets busier and busier. We are grateful for this as we believe it is a testament to the interest in Gopher athletics, which is our primary goal.

A few weeks back GopherHole added its most significant addition to its staff in its more than 13 years with the addition of Chris Monter. Monter has been a staple in the local and national recruiting circles for well over a decade and we have been very excited to add him to the staff. We are equally excited to continue offering original content, recruiting stories and insight from people like Chris Monter for free as that has been an important trait for us. This is why your donations are so appreciated as it allows us to add writers like Chris to our staff and it allows us to continue behind the scenes technological updates and enhancements to ensure that GopherHole can meet its increased traffic demands without a hitch.

We appreciate everyone who has donated to us in the past and those that are donating this time around. Your contributions are so appreciated. We also appreciate everyone who contributes to the dialogue on GopherHole as your posts drive our community and add to the passion of the maroon and gold. We are also grateful to the thousands of readers who come to GopherHole daily just to read. We encourage you to sign up and start posting as well.

Just one more note on this...as a free site, we really rely on these donations. I think you know no one is getting rich, but this donor drive helps to keep us going all year long. Last year was our biggest year so far in the donation drive, and I really hope it can be bigger this year - since our members and our hits have increased drastically over last.

Even if you can only give $5, $10, $25, $50...whatever it is, it all adds up. Just think, if all of our 3,735 all gave even $10 - we could be an even better fan website, with a new look, features, writers, etc.!

If it's easier, there is also an option to just have $ withdrawn from your account each month. Easier to come up with $10 a month, rather than $120 at once.

Attention GopherHolers.

I have made a small donation to the GopherHole. As I read threads and various comments to threads, and I do comment, I find it shameful that people on here argue, insult, call other commentors names, it discourages me. If a commentor wants to talk smack, pay for that right with a small donation. GopherHole is the BEST supporter of Gopher sports in the world. Help them out.

I have not been perfect on GopherHole. But I do have fun and drink beer. GO GOPHERS!!!
 

I donated all my money to the football program. Donating here is taking money away from the football program. I guess everyone has to decide for themselves if they'd rather have a good football program or a good message board about a not good football team.

kellyleeks, instead of excuses for not doing something, how about reasons for doing something. excuses suck, reasons make a difference. $20 donation is sacrificing a case of cheap beer over the course of a year.
 


I would like to see GH be a members only site with a modest fee. That would help keep some if not most of the dingies at bay.

Hey, Gopher Holers - ante up!

Assuming the donation list is up to date, I - a Badger fan - am one of the thirty (30! cripes!) people who have donated. What is wrong with you people? This is a quality site, which I frequent to get more-or-less accurate information about another Big 10 program in a metro area that I lived in for several years.

Think about what your life would be like if you had to rely on the Rivals or Scout site and make a donation. Do it today.

Wow. I hadn't even looked at that but the list is pretty much up to date - that is really sad (but at the same time, thank you so much, TAW). Come on GopherHolers, don't let Badger fans beat us at this too! We really appreciate your kind words, and I'm pretty you understand the countless hours of hard work we put into this site...and trust us, we're not getting rich, or even getting spending money. As for Bayfield's suggestion to charge, we are commited to having a free site for fans. You have to pay for so much - tickets, parking, food, drinks, online streaming games, we want your information and discussion to be free, which is why we hoped that people would donate more, as they don't have a monthly fee...but hope you feel you are getting a lot, if it's not even just the information, but the GopherHole community as well.

i figure it's a good deal if i don't have to pay $10/month and just donate $50 once a year. i don't like a lot of the posters on here, but some have some good insider info.
 



I just donated. Although I don't post much here, it's the first place I go for my Gopher "Fix" and quite often use information on the site when I'm talking Gopher sports with my friends.......so if nothing else it makes me appear smarter than I am!

The list of contributors is not accurate... or .... at least not updated from a couple weeks ago.
