I can't wait until Vaughn commits some where so we can finally rid ourselves of these annoying ISU fans.

Yeah, Doogie thinking it's down to UNLV or ISU is actually a pretty solid argument in the Gophers' favor.

Also, the way I read WanderGopher's post, he thinks that Whitehead picked SH because they were shady and offered extra benefits. And he's alluding to UNLV and ISU doing the same for Vaughn if he were to pick one of those 2 over Minnesota. That's what it sounds like to me.

No, and no.

SH hired Whitehead's high school coach as an assistant (and probably also is shady, though that's beside the point for this discussion).

Vaughn has an assistant coach with whom he's very close, and has been involved in his recruitment. Anyone following his recruitment surely is well aware of this.

LOL, ol' Doogie should've told Pitino and Young so they could've saved the trip out to Vegas a couple days ago. Or maybe they just like playing the slots.

I thought that you might have caught on to my sarcasm. The ISU fan clearly didn't. The sources of Doogie, Shooter, Sid, and Gopherholers speculate a lot and don't have direct knowledge. Same for ISU fans.

I missed the connection of Seton Hall hiring Whitehead's coach and UNLV hiring Kaffey. A lot will change in Vaughn's recruitment. The college season will likely influence his recruitment quite a bit.
 

It's pretty obvious that there are a lot of talking heads doing exactly that. We all speculate on recruitment (and why not? It's fun).

My obvious speculation is that Rashad is down to Arizona, Baylor, Kansas, Iowa State, Minnesota, UNC and UNLV. I think he has favorites among those, but will wait to see how the new players and coaches shake out to see which team is on the best trajectory for one season of success to serve as a jumping off point to the NBA.

This is all anyone really knows; it is obvious that Rashad enjoys the recruiting process and enjoys being wooed. He is going to attend UNLV events, but that doesn't mean they are the leaders for him. I think the picture will become much clearer in the coming weeks as we see where he actually takes visits to.

It's all fun to discuss, but the fact is that no one but Rashad, his family, and Kaffey know much about his thoughts at this point. Not Minnesota fans, not Iowa State fans, not UNLV fans. It should be a fun 6 months or so!
 



I can't imagine how much time these ISU fans spend on message boards if they frequent Gopher Hole as often as they do. It's ridiculous. We get it, you guys are recruiting Vaughn and want him badly. Why come to our board to talk about it? That's what your ISU boards are for.

Trust me, if I lived in Ames, I'd be looking for any opportunity to get to Minnesota, if only digitally.

Also, I think everybody here is correct. If Rashad is going to take until Spring, which he's continually said, well, we will be in it until Spring. I think there's a reason that we hear constantly about Pitino visiting Rashad and his family, and talking to Reid, while not hearing as much about Pitino and Tyus. Pitino knows that Tyus hasn't been interested in staying home, and so doesn't need to waste resources. Pitino believes, at least, that he has a chance with Rashad and Reid. I'll trust Pitino's instincts over Doogie's.

agreed. Anyone could have written what he has. We have known for months Duke is the favorite for Jones, and now that Rashad goes to school in Vegas, UNLV is putting the full court press on him so they are the favorite there....and Reid has always had Stanford right at the top.

Even when everyone knew Duke was the favorite, he insisted it was Kentucky (until he elminated them, of course). Anyone willing to do more than 5 minutes of research could do a much better job.

Looking at this as a positive. We won't chase RV around all winter, and the staff will be able to completely shift their focus to 2015.

Wouldn't put any stock in this. The OP appears to be a teenager, and the follow up tweets were mocking his original post. Doesn't mean he won't commit in the fall, but at this point I'll wait for official news.
 

Anyone else see UNLV lost to Dixie State 71-70 in its exhibition opener?
