Unless you are a resident of California. Serious talk, does the assistant who was the lead recruiter for henley/evans get fired for this debacle? People keep saying an assistant needs to get axed for this last season, is this guy at the top of the list?

Marcus Jenkins I believe. Yes it should be some cause for concern....
 

I’m not following the logic here. Why would anyone be mad or fault Jenkins? He’s supposed to predict someone offering a lot of money to these guys?
He did his job, he got them to sign the NLI.
Lots of factors beyond any staff for these two guys moving on.

Year 1 - AFTER Ben is hired all current players leave, one recruit stays true to said commitment...

After year one - 1 of 2 freshman leaves

After year 2- the 2nd best freshman who has shown more growth than any player out side of p.p. has left as has a Minnesota native and gopher fan who also is the 2nd recruit from his first freshman class ... Plus more rumored to leave... biggest commitment in decades decides to ask for his release from his n.l.i.

Ben has had 8 freshman sign within a 24 month period only to have half of them leave... Doesn't sound like trust to me

Maybe. But it doesn't make recruiting any easier when the team can't be competitive at all after you get a guy to commit.

I could have the best car salesman in the world, but if the muffler falls off on my way down the street from the lot, I'm turning around and dumping it.

Evans still likes Ben. Sounds like it's about the Benjamins and not the Ben to me. I don't know Henley's reason- yet. Ben should have kept Thiam who went into the portal- he was wild as can be but athletic.

Thiam, Henley, Evans gone
Betts, Payne, Carrington, JOJ, Christie. all still on board

That's 3 of 8- not half. This may be the reality of the transfer portals. Or it may be that Ben is not trusted. Anybody's guess.

Any recruiter's job is to bring in the best players who will come to that school. Once they sign he moves on to new targets.

I'm 50/50 on this. The right sale closes and sticks. Was the sales pitch unrealistic or is it all money coming in after the fact?

OMG---if Thiam would've stayed the Gopherhole would've imploded.....literally burst into flames. It was widely regarded that he was one of the worst signings EVER. Glad to see he had a good year, but he literally couldn't dribble the basketball when he got on the court.

Thompson. He stayed and signed with Ben... So 4 of 9 whatever... Having almost 50% of your signed recruits leave is not trust...

None of them are leaving/left for big money...
 


Also (I know no one on Gopherhole would ever change their mind), but I want to be clear I do not absolve Ben in this. I absolutely blame him for also signing on the dotted line. Recruit upper class portal or Grad players from all over all we want, but when it comes to long term stay close to home (or at least somewhere cold).

LOL, This is great. The whiners can't take their own whining.
People are looking in the mirror and not finding their whining to be all that great.
I think I will continue this charade of faux misery until the whiners see just how awful it is.
