University of Texas head men's basketball coach Chris Beard was arrested and charged with assault on a family member.

    1. There is a first time for everything 2. How do you know this is the first time it's happened? You think all domestic abuse incidents are reported?

All Things Nolan Winter Recruitment Thread (Class of 2023, Gophers Offered, Son of Trevor)

Yeah, things never change in recruiting. Players know exactly where they are going years in advance and never change their mind. If Ryan James is a "fraud" for saying he was a strong Minnesota lean, then so is the Wisconsin insider who had been predicting he would go to MN for a long time.

That combined with the fact that he inherited terrible freshmen and sophomores.

If Winters were to choose another school because he knows we're getting Evans, then that is far from a bad look.

Yeah that's a good point, that will likely keep some in school longer. Not sure that will apply to Garcia though unless Gopher players are getting NIL deals that I don't know about.

Things have changed, though. Players leave early sometimes even if they aren't projected to be first round picks. Amir Coffey did the same thing and it has worked out just fine for him.

All Things Taison Chatman Recruiting Thread (Class of 2023, Totino-Grace HS, Gophers Offered)

247 ranks Payne as the #3 in state prospect. My comment wasn't even a defense of Ben or attack on Pitino. It's just the fact that people get more exhausted and frustrated over time. Ben hasn't been here long enough to get the same complaints about recruiting that Pitino got.

That complaining didn't start until it became a pattern. If that becomes a pattern for Ben too then people will rip him the same way.

Isaiah Ihnen has suffered another season-ending knee injury, the U said Monday.

Yeah certainly reasons to be nervous too. I want to make the NCAA tournament and hopefully win a game while we're there, but my main concern is just showing noticeable improvement each year and I expect that to happen even without Fox and Ihnen. We shall see.

This can still be a good team if Henley can be solid as a freshman. We should still be in good shape in the frontcourt with Garcia and Payne playing the majority of the minutes at the 4 and 5. Thompson and Battle will play some there and if we're lucky maybe Ola-Joseph and/or Betts. We need...

Lol I don't even really understand what you're disagreeing with. These were my exact words: I never said that you can do certain exercises to make it impossible to tear a ligament (if that's even what you're implying), I only said that it HELPS to prevent tears, i.e., it reduces the chances of...

You're clearly projecting a bit, but strengthening and improving imbalances helps with stability. All of those things help prevent tears. If your joint isn't stable, it's more likely to be put in a position where the ligament will tear.

You're contradicting yourself. In your response to me you imply that strength/muscular balance doesn't prevent ligament tears, now you say muscular imbalances play a role in ligament tears. If muscular imbalances play a role in knee ligament tears (this is true), then training in a way that...

Improved stability in/around your knee helps prevent torn ligaments regardless of the strength of the ligaments themselves.

Well maybe that's why we didn't fill all 13. Maybe we tried and it just didn't happen. I really doubt that the re-injury potential of Fox and Ihnen selling point would have worked on anyone, regardless of what happened in hindsight. Right or wrong, most people don't take the long term...
