I can think of worster-case scenarios than this. Anything approaching a .500 conference record is a success after what happened last year. Anything beyond that is gravy for this fan.

Great effort by the guys last night. Could see in their eyes they really wanted it and, this year, they have the players and experience to win some games. Continued growth this year could set the team up for a special season next year if everyone returns outside the graduating seniors.

Not sure about them being a Final 4 team but I've been rooting for Pitino at NM. Much like Tubby, he had some bad luck with player behavior and injuries during a critical for his program and its hard to win at Minnesota under the best of circumstances.

Maybe Battle can rejuvenate somewhere else like Kalscheur did at Iowa State. Not sure what his deal was this year (regression to the mean?) but his shooting was awful.

Ultimately the ticket (and subscription) paying fan will have to weigh in. As things stand there is no penalty for the free-for-all insanity that has become college basketball.
