Pulitzer Prize For Best GH Post

This could be fun. It looks like there is no set criteria for Pulitzers, the board just decides what is "distinguished." 3. What are the criteria for the judging of The Pulitzer Prizes? There are no set criteria for the judging of the Prizes. The definitions of each category (see How to Enter...

    Favorite Minnesota North Stars memories

Not a favorite memory but a memory. I recall Al Shaver describing the action in the early years. "Pass to Connelly, the BLAST!! That puck went 35 rows up, he's got to reduce the curve on his stick."

    Favorite Minnesota North Stars memories

I know a lot has written about the Boston fight, but I have vague memories of another big fight that they had with Philadelphia in their first or second year. It was on TV and I think that it lasted for over an hour. Can't remember who our enforcer was, but Elmer Vasco was one of the bigger...

    2024-25 Gopher Hockey Season

Does it bug anyone else that the announcer sometimes calls Penn State, "Penn?"

OK, a quick check revealed this. Not sure if I could ever find support for my statement in the original message. https://www.reuters.com/article/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/x-and-z-in-favor-as-companies-name-new-drugs-idUSBRE90O0HJ/

I read someplace that if the drug name does not contain an "x" or a "z" it will cut sales in half.

    Nebraska may cancel Spring game

Pretty much agree. One of the possibilities is injury of an important player. The Pro Bowl isn't played anymore, maybe college can do skill drills like the pros.

Any chance that he is related to Lloyd Voss who played for the Steelers?

    Official: Collins named DC.

Yep, I do these all the time. I'm also known around the house for saying, "man, do we need a stop here." At which point my wife says, "oh, thank you for explaining that to me."

    Other Bowl Games Thread

Don't have a good feel about who might win this one. I have noted that Day talks about momentum all the time, and Fleck does not believe in it. Different approaches...

    Former Players on Culture

I used to think that age and experience had nothing to do with one's ability to "understand life and the world, etc", but it does.

Danny Collins to DC per RB

Holtz did for a game or two, but I think that it was because he was having back problems ore something. IIRC a guy named Bill Peterson did this at Florida State or maybe it was Darrell Mudra. Anyway they were ridiculed for it. Go Gophers! Edit: looks like Mudra regularly coached from the press...

    Memorial Stadium

I probably saw 10 or 12 games at Memorial as a HS student. Then I went to college out of state and have lived out of state since. I never saw one Gopher game at the Metrodome. In recent years my financial situation has improved and I've probably made it to 10 games at the Bank, and about 20 bowl...

    Memorial Stadium

Great thread. Luckily a friend's family had season tickets and often had an "extra ticket" and would invite me. The seats were in section 5, a few rows behind where Paul Giel and his glamorous wife would sit. My first game was in '73 vs a Lee Corso Indiana team that featured Quinn Buckner of...

Post Game Thread: Gophers Are Mayo Bowl Champs!!!! Finish 8-5!!!

Me too. After that Iowa loss I was not so sure. I was pissed and had doubts that we would win another game. Then after that game Fleck told us to "not give up on this team." I thought that that comment was so so "full of it", but it turned out to be true. Go Fleck, Go Gophers!
