At least part of this is due to repeatedly getting screwed over from best case situations (and more notable/better opponents) with bowl placements by the bowl committees and conference. But as others have said, you can only play who they lined you up to play and you still have to win the games...

Plus one of the B1G playoff eliminations was at the hands of another B1G team. And, I think in most (all?) of the B1G/SEC matchups, the SEC team had a better record or was ranked higher or was favored.

This is why I’d like to see more games on campus. Even the NFL understands you should only have your championship at a neutral site. College can maybe stretch that to two with Bowl week, but rounds 1 and 2 should be on campus. Either keep the playoff at 12 or even move it to 16. Ditch the conf...

I was thinking the same thing. Potential for not only four of the last four playoff finalists, but four DIFFERENT teams no less, all from the (current) B1G.

I flipped away from the Duke game. It sounds like Duke has been hit hard by the portal or personnel losses if that is the reason or not… they look awful.

Just a note to potentially get this thread back on track: 1. There is a different thread dedicated to the playoff and how it is structured. 2. This thread is about how the SEC leans on hypothetical game assumptions instead of actual w/L results to suggest teams like Indiana don’t belong.

I fear either OSU or PSU may be the next to get the ASU targeting ref treatment if it starts looking like an all B1G final.

I wonder if the ESPN echo chamber media machine will go after the controversy of that non-call targeting with the same vigor they went after Indiana’s right to be in the playoff?

Non calls on obvious penalties for all to see like that targeting are going to chip away at the integrity of the game. No explanation for that leads to a lot of questions
