When I look at Dutcher, I calculate he has 5-6 years left before he turns 66 or 67. That's when I've seen many coaches lose their edge. Beilein is already older than that. Can he maintain the energy necessary to establish a winning culture? It didn't seem he had much energy left as an NBA...

For the last decade, Coach K has done Less with More than any other coach in the NCAA. He still gets the top recruits due to his Name, but he just got old.

Two years ago there were two home run hires to be had, Nate Oates and Eric Musselman. Gophers now have Zero chance at Oates, but just maybe a 100 to 1 shot with Musselman. Cue Jim Carrey ....

There's only one "Elite" level coach that has been mentioned on this thread, that would almost assuredly turn the Gophers into every year contenders... Eric Musselman. BUT there's less that a 1% chance he could be had. Smith, Medved & Dutcher are all very good coaches that would fit the bill...
