Is 6-4 good? In 2025, success needs more context than just win total; "There’s a lot of really good football teams in the country that are 6-4"

I don’t think that will be the case if MN barely eeks out wins these next two weeks. Say they play ugly, trail at half in both, get outgained by NW (I can’t imagine it against Wisc, sorry), win one in OT and another late like they did against Purdue. Maybe Wisconsin or NW shoot themselves in the...

IF we finish with only 6 wins....

Spot on. Thanks for the nice breakdown. I’d say with the current B1G “placement” process, it seems likely MN ends up in Nashville or Vegas almost regardless of record since they haven’t been to either bowl in the current cycle.

    Was this a fumble?

Embarrassing play all around. Defense can’t tackle…check. RB fumbles TWICE…check. Clearly incorrect replay ruling…check.

Gophers Fleck opening statement after Oregon.

Mich turned it over 5 times yesterday and won on a walk off FG. A&M was down 4 scores at half to 3-6 South Carolina and won by a point. GT walked off 1 win Boston College. I’d rather MN not be squeaking out those wins…but it’s better than losing and nothing unusual in CFB these days. EDIT to...

    How many points…

I totally understand the line but will back MN on that one for sure

Lanning: Everything I thought I knew about P.J. is not really what I knew. He's an unbelievable human.

Love that. I think it’s pretty well-established at this point that PJ doesn’t have a “schtick” — the RTB stuff, culture, family, service, etc. are 100% genuine. I’m not saying he’s a perfect human being, but it’s also pretty clear that none of what he professes to want for his players is...

Predict the Score Thread: Minnesota at Oregon

Oregon a little dinged up, coming off a tough road game on a short week, DT might play (please), Gophers off a bye. I'll say closer than OSU and Iowa, but not a happy outcome: Oregon 34 MN 17

JUCO No. 1 WR Salley Commits

Wow I hadn’t even considered that. Potentially HUGE brain move by PJ and co if these guys end up having 4 years of eligibility.

    2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

Hadn’t looked ahead, but I totally agree with that. Both probably need to be looking at the 5 win rankings posted elsewhere on this board and hoping for a Detroit trip at this point.

From The Athletic: Ranking the Big Ten’s 18 head coaching jobs (Minnesota #15)

IU, Notre Dame, Illinois, Cincinnati, Louisville all within ~2-3 hour drive. There’s plenty of talent in the area, but not that much — and getting them to come to the town of West Lafayette on top of out-recruiting all those schools is challenging. And yes, academics at NW…plus traditionally...

Hutchinson JUCO safety MJ Graham committs

Am I right that the DL who committed today is from Hutchinson as well? Did the highly ranked WR visit with those guys as well this weekend? I’m sure I could find this out, but I don’t really follow recruiting much.

From The Athletic: Ranking the Big Ten’s 18 head coaching jobs (Minnesota #15)

Not too much to quibble about the top IMO, but I’d put Minnesota and Illinois in their own tier and move down NW and Purdue as others have noted. Both face serious recruiting challenges and have small dedicated fan bases. BTW, Indiana would’ve likely been in the Minnesota/Illinois tier if it...

    Defense and sacks

Combination of factors, right? Yes, there’s talent on the DL. Smith is clearly an NFL talent. I think Eastern will get there. Mentz is developing more quickly than anticipated. Gophers have caught some good match ups in a depleted MSU OL and a Nebraska OL missing a starter and losing another...

    2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

There's not supposed to be "picking" anymore since the B1G works with bowls to appropriately "place" teams based on fairly opaque criteria like record, match-ups, and recent appearances. There are certainly tiers of bowls and perceived prestige based on payout and conference affiliation of course.

    Nebraska QB Broke Fibula

I’m sure Google will give you a good answer, but I watched most of their game. The backup was a redshirt Frosh, I believe. Sleight build, looked very uncomfortable, REALLY wanted to run it (and did). Wasn’t afraid to push it down the field a couple times with 1:1 matchups but didn’t complete...

    2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

These final weeks of the B1G season are going to be fascinating. Oregon still plays Iowa, USC, and Washington. Not likely, but they could pick up 2 more losses and get knocked out of the playoff picture. Iowa and USC still play each other, so one of them could could easily get INTO the playoff...

    FIRE GREG HARBAUGH

Harbaugh could absolutely be doing better, but I give him kudos for modernizing the O at least a little the past couple years. That said, he’s clearly an average offensive mind, and not one to elevate poor talent… …and on that note, there’s a LOT of poor talent on this offense — and that is, by...
